I'm going to sound like a broken record, but until Israelis oust leadership figures like Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir, there's NOTHING that the Palestinians can do achieve peace, even if they wanted to. Those Israeli leaders have no incentives but to draw this conflict out as long as they can, as that's how they retain their power[1,2].
The October 7th murder and rape spree by Hamas was a terrible atrocity - there's NO question about that. However, there was some method to that madness, and that was to bait Israel into overreacting and to turn itself into an international pariah, and it succeeded beyond whatever expectations those planners could have expected.
I'll give you credit for understanding the Israeli political system. Israel's voters can oust Likud anytime they want. They can invoke a snap election. It is the Israeli people who are venting wrath. The leaders are the ones they chose to have blood on their hands...nobody else wants that job so to Netanyahu it goes, over and over again, for decades. If the Palestinians even one time said "yes, Hamas must disarm" and Hamas agreed to any international solution--Egypt, Jordan, etc.--where they are under another force, Israel would be compelled to cooperate, and the government coalition under Netanyahu would flip. Then there would be some path out of this. At this point, there is no path. Israelis get it, and yes, they are frustrated. Many would love to see Netanyahu jailed, but as long as there's a war, this is how they choose to run it.
This where I depart from other contributors to the comments section of The Racket News. Portraying the Democratic Party has the more moderate cannot be squared in my mind with the Islamists running for and winning office as well as the misguided groups of Democratic supporters who drink the Free Palestine and From River to Sea Kool Aid. Trying to blame their perceived short comings of Israeli leaders as being the culprits to the continuing crisis defies all the history of Israel from the time of its inception. Israel becoming a so-called pariah state in the world view, is just another example of the rampant and historical hatred to Jews around the globe.
We must reject the premise. American political parties are both being led by the nose by fringe extremists, charlatans, and illiberal thugs. Both the Democrats and Republicans, with normal people (voters) in the center, are reasonable, just with different prescriptions for policy. The problem is not in either party, but the leadership of both and the amoral application of money and power to politics.
