I'll be very interested to see to what extent Trumpism has the same shelf life that Tea Party-ism did. We should know by December whether it's going to remain a thorn in the side of Republicans seeking to win general elections in most places or whether it dissipates the same way that the Right's embrace of GWB did after his term.

As for Biden, I doubt that he'll be widely perceived as a popular president. The Silent Majority will appreciate his return to normalcy, but it'll be hard to register that given the incentives of the modern information / news economy to make NOW the MOST X ever (substitute for your own preferred X). As we're seeing with Hawley and Gohmert's shenanigans, there's far more upside in stupid stunts than downside at the moment.

Stupid stunts appeal to a loud minority. I think those people will never like Biden, but I think a lot of Americans will.

Of course, "popular" is a relative term.
