Interesting take and one i agree with; and certainly from this perspective. After reading John McCain's final book The Restless Wave, he stated he had considered asking Joe Lieberman to be his running mate. Joe, as a former democrat turned independent, it might have been the difference maker in that 2008 battle with Obama. Most certainly he should have ignored the crazies who wanted Sarah Palin and went with any number of more well known. moderates who he wanted.

It gets better as i would have loved to see Obama get another 4 years of experience under his belt before he was elected. His 2008 win was stunning but he would have been better prepared politically by 2012. Adding into the equation was there may not have been a politician better positioned to address the Foreign policy needs than John McCain.

Sadly, we are paying for it now in the age of trumpism.

I could not agree more Mr. Pearson. I think President Obama's foreign policy was pretty much a disaster and unfortunately I also feel that President Biden's foreign policy has been just an Obama rinse and repeat.

I believe we have all the evidence we need to know that Iran cannot be allowed to have nukes. That can probably be stopped by the international community but not within the framework of the UN. Taiwan is a thornier problem that will eventually require some tough decision making by the USA and its allies, if there are any allies.
