If only the GOP held Trump as accountable for his deeds as the Democrats did Cuomo, the conservative movement would be in MUCH better shape. Pence isn't perfect by any means, and I've disagreed with him at times. But even if Trump resigned as late as early 2020 before the pandemic, I would've had no problems voting for Pence in the 2020 elections. I don't expect a candidate to be completely to my liking, but I do expect a reasonable minimum level of character and competence in order for them to get my vote. Trump never met that level, and neither would Gaetz, Greene, Cawthorne, Gosar, and others of their ilk. But at the very least, Pence would've spared us further damage done to conservatism and the GOP.
I'm willing to compromise with more populist leaning Republicans and split the difference on policies that I may not like. What I'm not willing to do, is to tolerate any idea of Trump and his sycophants running the show, and calling the shots in the GOP by entertaining the Big Lie(I have ZERO tolerance for that), and lies about the Covid-19 vaccines, among other easily disprovable conspiracy theories. Any candidate who does the latter, I will automatically write off and not cast a vote for them.
As someone who is firmly conservative, I'm very appreciative of congresswoman Liz Cheney. She has an uphill battle to retain her seat against some aspiring Trumpists in a very ruby red state, but I'm cautiously optimistic that she will outsmart her opponents and pull off a win. It won't be easy, as Trump is seeking blood and revenge for her having impeached him and telling the truth. I just laugh when Trump sycophants(as opposed to reluctant Trump voters who won't support Trump again) call her a RINO, when she such a solid conservative. I mean, all one has to do is read her press releases and her social media feeds. She doesn't spare President Biden a nickel when it comes to criticizing the latter's policies. As I have previously, I'll continue to contribute what I can to her campaign, and will do what I can to help her get re-elected. We really need more Liz Cheneys, Adam Kinzingers, Peter Meijers, Ben Sasses, Mitt Romneys, and others of their ilk in Congress.
August 13, 2021...here i sit waiting patiently for trump to retake the White House today, wonder if it will be later in the evening? We know this is the date because the genius Mike Lindell told us so, time and time again. How could anything go wrong when a man of Lindell's wealth, standing and influence shouts it from the mountaintop?
But wait, there's more. I saw an interview the other day where he was screaming at the reporter claiming he never said that. Ya but, then they showed repeated clips of him saying it. Obviously more fake news.
This is what the republican party has become; clowns and shit shows abound and yet so many cling to the clearly deranged amongst us. My wife has a seemingly intelligent, well to do friend who once the South Dakota debacle started the other day sent a blast email to her entire group of friends proclaiming they were finally getting to the truth and justice was going to be served.
OMG. Even the folks working with him found it to be pure and utter nonsense, "packet captures" indeed. The good news is there were plenty of infomercials to buy his pillows and nightwear. I would love to see one of your right leaning readers come on here and explain how anyone in their right mind can buy into this crap? Please, step up and explain. Thank you in advance.
Finally, good riddance and good night andrew. I guess the argument "i grope everyone doesn't wash eh?"
It'll be interesting to see what Mikey Lindell's explanation is now that August 13 is here, and Trump won't be reinstated as president. The MyPillow kraken has gone down in flames, predictably.
David, you have a lot of good ideas which is why I tune in. One of them is that the Republicans can and should do better than Trump. The bottom line for me is we should but even if we don't, it would be a hell of a lot better than Biden, Harris and the political appointees, from cabinet level down, than what we have now.
What corruption? You mean like 10% for the big guy? You mean like using public funds to buy votes? Maybe it's like accepting support from interests who want open borders and cheap labor. Or ruining the US military to appease a few activists. Or fighting against election integrity.
Define "buying votes": seems like anything that provides services to the people is somehow corrupt to you. Of course, many that rely on government services (or handouts in your lexicon) still vote GOP: so is it really about that?
"Interests who want open borders and cheap labor": firstly, define who you're talking about here, 'cause those interests are businesses and farmers that can't get "natives" to take those jobs. They've tried, and nobody wants those vital jobs: so yeah, there will be immigration for that as much as you may hate it.
Your definition of ruining the US military is solely related to the gender and sexual preferences of those signing up, and has nothing to do with how much money is spent on the military, the missions they're being given, or really anything that would really ruin the force. I don't really care if you agree or not: you're just showing your age and bigotry.
"Election integrity" has nothing to do with laws that allow a legislature to nullify votes. Voter ID isn't the issue: it's about *how* those IDs are provided (needs to be gratis), or how to ensure mail ballots are secure (which they generally are, though some newer tech like QR codes and perhaps a PIN would be good to implement).
Buying votes is providing handouts to people who don't want to work so that some employers have to beg for open borders to get the illegal laborers they need.
The military is supposed to be a fighting force capable of lethality. The experiments to use conflicted perverts and sexually confused individuals for intelligence and analysis has resulted in treasonous acts and medical liabilities for those who seek only to get the military to pay for their transition to something resembling another sex. There is no way that sexual tensions are good for unit morale and teamwork.
There is no election integrity law that allows nullification of legitimate votes. I don't know about other states but Georgia provides free voter ID cards. My late mother-in-law's expired driver's license was sufficient. Mail-in ballots could be made more secure but they would never be as secure as in-person voting.
Right: you'd rather people starve and be on the streets if they can't find work (typically in their field) even if they're not suited for back-breaking work like farming/harvesting/etc.... Also: how do you make the desire for "cheap labor" work with the drive for higher minimum wages? And how do you make all of that work with the GOP attempting to be the party of "the working man"?
You're a bigot re: LGBTQ in the military. Full stop: nothing else to state there. They always have been there: it's just a matter of whether they could be open about it. Military did fine before, they will be fine now and in the future.
I'm looking forward to GA's new law being used to invalidate the votes in Fulton County, though I know you won't bat an eye at being proven wrong: you'll just say "But the Democrats!" and move on.
In person voting is more secure, but somehow busing people from out of state is a concern - right? Get real: mail -in ballots are all paper ballots, and with sufficient controls they are just as secure. Not that you care, of course: we've already discussed this topic.
As to finding jobs in ones field, that means absolutely nothing. I remember when NYC had a high paying job for an apiarian but there was only one position.
Just remember who's shutting down the service economy and paying people to not work when you whine about finding jobs.
Perverts and mentally ill and sexually confused individuals are distractions and medical liabilities in the military. The few that contribute to the mission are not worth the hassle. I believe you will find a very high percentage of veterans agree with my assessment.
When Georgia nullifies LEGAL votes, I'll send a donation to the opposition.

Matthew Yglesias said this today:
"People use exaggerated fantasies of their opponents’ illiberalism to talk themselves into adopting authoritarian methods."
That's what Flight 93 rhetoric does to our politics.

There isn't a single republican today who deserves to clean the shoes of any democrat.
I guess it's a good thing we're not electing Shoeshiners in Chief then.
'cause tax rates are worth accepting corruption.
