I would also add to the discussion what happens with former republicans who cannot stomach the idea of another trump presidency. There's a boatload of former insiders who have vilified him as they were leaving (i think the number was 28) and should they build a coalition working against him, it could move the needle on the moderates republicans sitting on the fence. It's one thing if they stay home, it's a wholly other thing if they show up and vote for Biden; especially if they proclaim they are doing it.
