I agree with you that this is most definitely antisemitism against these children and anti-semitism is a stain on humanity, but I also think the state of Israel has more to do with globalizing the Intifada than Hamas itself.
This war should not still be ongoing and the fact it is is, along with mass starvation and the massive civilian casualties that have accompanied 2 years of Israeli bombardment is shameful for Israel and does more to create resentment than anything a third-party could say or do.
The “complete” destruction of Hamas was never a viable goal, Israel has already had a complete victory in this theatre and should recognize that.
It’s a big stretch to blame Israel for globalizing the Intifada. BDS was around way before October 7, 2023. I think the Israeli government has not made it any better by their policy but I cannot give them the lion’s share of the blame. Hamas is chiefly to blame because it is their policy. It’s clearly working.
I meant it more as a riff than a factual statement. Israel has not helped itself in the court of public opinion, that much is clear.
When I hear the things the far right in Israel say about forcibly removing Gazans from Gaza - one way or another, it really makes me wonder. The fact this is coming out influential voices in the State of Israel, given its modern history and the events that led to its foundation, is particularly galling imo.
The only way Israel will have anything remotely resembling peace would be to completely and totally obliterate Hamas, but they won't do it, fearing worldwide backlash from the likes of Russia, China, Iran, and the United States. Yes, I said the US. With antisemitism and just plain jew-hatred rising exponentially in America, it won't be long before we turn on Israel as well. Thankfully, God Himself will ultimately protect them.
What the f, Matt Taibbi? This is idiocy! What is this trash doing in Racket News? Of course, it’s anti-Semitism — but while Israel continues this bloodbath, including famine, bombing medical facilities, killing people lined up for food, it’s kind if a nothing. NOTE: I am Jewish. I loathe anti-Semitism. But, why are we even talking about some teens plane trip while this genocide this is going on?
I am not Matt Taibbi. And if there is genocide in Gaza, where are the millions of bodies? Where are the crematoriums? Why is the media allowed to report from Gaza? Why do Gazans have iPhones and Hyundais and Toyotas? Why is Hamas still running tunnels and firing rockets into Israel? There is no genocide. But Hamas is happy to sell that to people who believe it. If you’re Jewish, worry when the globalized Intifada comes for you because it will. It will hold you responsible for the genocide you say is going on. It won’t care that you oppose it. You’re Jewish. That is enough. If it was your kid in the plane I’m sure you’d see it differently.
This is "The Racket News", which existed before Matt Taibbi created his "Racket News". Two completely different substacks, and completely unassociated.

Tears and prayers.

This is disgusting anti-semitism, and the French government has lost their marbles amongst their wokeness.
