Just a reminder, the Oath of Office that those serving in the gov't take:
"I, ________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
Like the Constitution got in Obama's way. Pete was simply saying that the JAGs might have different politics than the current administration. The law is the law but is subject to manipulation by those engaging in lawfare.
Thanks for the good comments on legality vs. morals vs. loyalty. Government authority is based on legality and Presidents are swatted down when they exceed their authority. They can get away with it for a while like Joe Biden and student loan forgiveness. Trump will get away with it until some of his edicts are ruled illegal by the Supremes. Morals are personal. If a subordinate cannot reconcile his personal morals with that of his boss, he must leave the team or accept getting fired. Sabotaging the boss is immoral in my opinion.
True but the Constitution is whatever the Supreme Court says it is and that is subject to change. And every one of the people who cares gets a chance to vote.

Firing JAG personnel because they may "get in the way" per Hegseth just tells me they plan on doing illegal things - either at home or abroad.

Yes, quite often in fact.

The boss is the constitution and the people of the USA - at least, for most positions that is the case.

The President is not the Constitution.
I'd say today is going to be the nail in the coffin for the NPT.
