Point of (pedantic) information: it would take 3,748 Mike Lindells to offset 1 Elon Musk, financially speaking. So I’d think a Musk endorsement has to be more valuable than the pillow guy’s.
Anyone who has truly paid attention to DeSantis’s personal agenda that he has managed to get the legislature to buy into knows in their hearts he would be a horror as president. I know many think Trump would be worse, but as a Florida resident I can not agree.
So, you say about 60% of Florida voters did not pay attention. Could it be they did and like what they voted for? Are you and the rest of the 40% really the all-knowing elite?
His agenda only really came out during this legislative session. I am not “ elite”. I am a wife, mom and grandmother who doesn’t want to live under authoritarian rule.
Not sure that means anything. I am a husband, dad and grandfather. I do not like authoritarian rule either. How is DeSantis authoritarian? How do any so-called authoritarian policies affect your daily life for the worse? Somone has to be in charge. A clear majority of Floridians voted for the governor and the legislature.
You sound like some of my former employees who needed their own businesses. You need your own state to run. There's a good chance many of your subjects would disagree with your policies and accuse you of being authoritarian.
Curious Curtis; you always sound fairly straight forward in that what you say is what we get (that's a good thing). The problem for me is almost always in the blinders you put on. Case in point pretty simple: Your buddy DeSantis attacks Disney because he doesn't like their comments. On the other hand, the Morse family and The Villages has enjoyed DeSantis heaping financial rewards on them for years. Is it possibly because their politics are in alignment with his? Because if that's the case, i suspect the authoritarian argument you are claiming doesn't exist is on loud and proud display.
DeSantis can act only within the Florida legislative framework. When he received a phone call from the CEO of Disney who was attempting to bully the governor and meddle in state politics beyond normal lobbying, DeSantis reacted accordingly. There is plenty of evidence that Disney did not always live up to its self-governance obligations at Reedy Creek.
The governor and legislators were elected by a clear majority and are managing the state the way they think voters would approve of. If they are wrong, there will be another election soon enough.
With regard to The Villages, you'll have to come with more than a smear by a left-wing site that Glenn Greenwald was not liberal enough for. And that is just one of the dozens of lefty sites commissioned to do hit pieces on Republicans in general and DeSantis in particular.
I suppose combative Republicans are less likable than Republicans inclined toward surrender to the democrat diversity, inclusion and equity and socialist agenda. That is what I read in this article and the comments. Take charge guys are unwelcome. You will be made to comply.
I would like to see one example of democrat compromise or appreciation for Republican surrender. This is all BS.
Love how you term it surrender when the GOP has done a tremendous job of playing political hardball. Just because culture doesn't follow those political wins doesn't mean there's surrender involved.
Culture will do what it does, which is constantly change - and it's changed to being more diverse and inclusive. Despise it as you will: I recommend learning how to live and let live.
And maybe consider why you/the GOP are so set against diversity and inclusion: sounds pretty backward looking to me, and the past is where it belongs - behind us.
Live and let live is good advice. I do my best to live that way. I do not burn, loot or riot. I do not kill people who disagree with my cisgender, heterosexual lifestyle. Although I resent perverts and sexually confused individuals invading my granddaughter's privacy, I do not engage in vigilantism. I buy only what I can afford and pay my bills only to get penalized for having a high credit score.
I really have not seen any Republican wins at political hardball. All I see is a country facing economic destruction, outrageous spending, inability to produce needed good, reliance on an unreliable supply chain and a declining military presence. All because of Republican surrender monkeys giving in when staying the course is needed. They should remain steadfast. If they lose, they lose, and the deadbeats will get what they want and destroy the nation from within.
You need to recognize that nobody is attacking your cisgender heterosexual lifestyle, that the existence of LGBTQ+ people is not an attack and just something that is. You and your family live on the planet, and homosexual/bisexual/transgender people do too. They are as real as you and I.
Example of a hardball win: Brett Kavanaugh.
The supply chain takes time to change, and fortunately things are actually being done about that - unlike during the Trump administration. I've pointed it out before and I'll point it out again: we are manufacturing more than we ever have.
Our military presence suffered from multiple reasons: end of the Cold War, misuse in Iraq and Afghanistan, and poor use of funds (though that last one is long running). Ukraine has woken up many to the need to invest wisely: give it time.
When it comes to economics, you're going to have to excuse me if I think that the GOP has zero plans or ideas for that - they've been unable to provide even a budget thus far, and solely position themselves as counter to whatever Democrats propose over the past ~13 years. It's hard to "win" when you have no ideas and are solely reactionary - and have no care for fiscal sanity when actually in power.
"The deadbeats" is an interesting one: who are you calling deadbeats, exactly? Staying which course, exactly? 'cause I think the greatest threat is from those that wish to prevent integrating everyone into a common effort to make America a better place for everyone, where we willingly hamper our economic capability by excluding people because they are LGBTQ+ or of a different ethnic or religious group.
You are correct. The Republicans did succeed in bringing some diversity to the Supreme Court by playing hardball. Posible only because of a short-lived Senate majority which was lost because of miffed Georgia Republicans.
The current House proposal for raising the debt ceiling is close enough to a budget plan for me, but it does not go nearly far enough. It does not adequately address the military, border control, Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. Any proposal for getting those items under control will get nowhere because we, as a nation, are becoming all whiny about our entitlements - just like the French. The whiners and their enablers (vote buyers) are the deadbeats. Not only do they expect free medical care, they expect loan forgiveness, rent below the market value and discounted mortgages because they can't manage their finances. They expect those who can manage their money and therefore have good credit scores to pay for it by mortgage surcharges.
Sounds like useful things to debate during budget negotiations, as opposed to the need to raise the debt ceiling (which is a stupid thing anyways...) to pay for already-spent monies and avoid wrecking our credit rating - which would then make it even more expensive to do just about anything.
Of course, you are correct but only if both sides are inclined to debate. We have been through it too many times to believe that debate will happen without some sort of leverage. We absolutely have to pay for money we have borrowed. All other spending can be stopped. Starting with congressional salaries. I'm sure both parties have dodged tough budget question. The democrats seem to have adopted that as a policy to enable them to continue unfettered spending and growth of the government. According to Joe Manchin, they can't even keep promises to their own members.

Like i said, you wear the blinders well.
Your gem quote absolutely is within the framework of your discussion.
Elte:
(often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.
(used with a plural verb) persons of the highest class:
Only the elite were there.
a group of persons exercising the major share of authority or influence within a larger group:
the power elite of a major political party.
Definitions can be somewhat contradictory.
