"I’ll offer my advice to Democrats again: Let the Republicans embrace the crazy. Be sane."

100%

Voters need to EXPERIENCE the reality that #MAGA lunacy is much more disruptive and destructive than progressive lunacy. In an ideal world, we wouldn't be given lunatics to choose from, but I've given up hope on that front some time ago.

If you think you can find sane democrats who can get their party's nomination, you better start promoting them in your columns right away. Otherwise, you may get democrats of questionable sanity. Simply bitching about Trump may be cathartic but sane democrats are in short supply.

J.B. Pritzker has done a good job here in Illinois.

Andy Beshear enjoys a high approval rate among Kentuckians.

Josh Shapiro's doing a solid job in Pennsylvania.

That's just off the top of my head. The Democrats have a solid bench beyond that, including Mark Kelly, Tammy Duckworth, Tim Walz, and Wes Moore.

More generally: it's all about the primaries, and ensuring that the moderate option makes it through - which is where former GOPers could help by voting for them.

True, although moderation can be pretty subjective.

It's a spectrum.

Pritzker. the insurrectionist, would not win any mostly red state and probably not half of the swing states.

Beshear might be able to win Kentucky and Georgia and half the swing states, but he would never be bipartisan. He is almost sane.

Josh Shapiro is sane, but he would not win a southern state. He could be bipartisan when necessary.

You're joking about Mark Kelly, Tammy Duckworth, Tim Walz, and Wes Moore, right?

A lot depends on the state of the state 18 months from now. The democrats are trying to make it as dire as possible.

I would think being an insurrectionist would win him over some of those red states, if the last presidential election was any indication. ;-)
