Calling all neocons, our government is NUTS

Just when I am saying one decent thing about the current administration, they remind me who they are

Wake up, all you neocons! Condi Rice was “seen walking into the White House” by CNN reporter Kristen Holmes. I couldn’t resist using this AI photo going around X. Forgive me (or not! I don’t care). So Rice reportedly told President Trump to “take care” of Iran for good, whatever that means. If it means putting 150,000 troops on the ground for 17 years and fighting every terrorist and IED-manufacturing nutcase in the world while they camp out in the Kopet Dag forming their own Ho Chi Minh trail of death to all the ‘stans filled with people chanting “Death to America! Death to Bush!” then put me in the “hard pass” column.

Not to be outdone, and huffing his own McDonalds burger and fries farts after the House defeated what should have been a slam-dunk measure to keep the president accountable to (checks notes) the Constitution, this morning Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash “Cuba is gonna fall pretty soon, by the way, unrelated, but Cuba is gonna fall too. They want to make a deal so badly.”

The president who ran on continual promises to keep America out of endless wars is now hooked on war. Behold: The Department of War; Moving our military assets around the world like they were Sid Phillips’ toys; Venezuela; Iran. Why not Cuba? And then, the queen of all Trump’s territorial ambitions, the unobtainable, resistant, objet d’amour, Greenland. Finally, Canada, if we even want them by then (you know, Canada’s per capita GNP is less than Mississippi’s, whose kids can read and do math better than California, whose actual GNP is twice Canada’s). You follow?

And Congress has continually within its grasp the legal authority to stop the American Anschluss. They just don’t have the political will, or the spine, to do it. And, what, some 70 to 80 percent of Republicans are on board with what we’re doing in Iran right now, so let’s add another antiseptic air campaign, or ultra-targeted Jack Reacher mission to the bag of tricks, and turn Cuba.

Many pundits are taking China’s and Russia’s (mostly) silence at our death blossoms as fear, or worry. Perhaps they’re worried, yeah. China is unhappy it’s losing major sources of oil. Russia is unhappy its drone partner in Iran is being dismantled. But I think mostly, they are sitting back, confused. The Americans have gone nuts, they are saying in the Kremlin and in Beijing. Let’s do nothing and let them be nuts and see where it leads them.

China spent the better part of 50 years carefully balancing itself as America’s supreme supplier of everything, and also cultivating international relationships using the Road and Belt initiative and well-placed loans and bribes to bring other countries in South America and Asia closer to their orbit. It was working, until Trump went in and wrecked it in a month’s time. But things never stay the same, do they? And people who viscerally hate America, like Delcy Rodriguez, are fine biding their time, making nice, waiting out the storm, until they can exact revenge and swing back to China.

You’d think the neocons have taught the current crop of hooligans nothing, because they learned nothing from the Reaganites. We armed the Mujahideen in Afghanistan to fight the Russians, and Sly Stallone made a movie characterizing them as heroes. Whaddayaknow? The Mujahideen turned out to be the Taliban, who fought us to a standstill, until we too left in disgrace. And in Iraq, we planted the seed of democracy after getting rid of Saddam Hussein, who was admittedly a nasty guy. That seed grew into the current crop of Iran-loving terrorists after we destroyed their cities, and pounded Mosul into the ground so completely that the Russians and Israelis were impressed, and only now is the city being rebuilt. (That happened under Barack Obama.)

Taking out the Iranian regime and replacing it with armed Kurds is stupid beyond belief, because we’ve betrayed the Kurds and they Kurds will betray us. The Turks, who are in NATO, want to destroy the Kurds. The magic eight-ball is coming up blank trying to discern the future here, because there is no future. It’s all a mess.

I’m glad we’re dismantling the evil butchers of Tehran. But for God’s sake, give the country back to the people of Iran, who’ve run their own country for like 4,000 years. We can’t export democracy, and we can’t deal our way into a Golden Age. Anyone who’s selling that vision is also selling time-shares at the Trump Taj-Mahal II, which is currently a vacant lot in Atlantic City, but will rise again! Buy now! They’re accepting Trump stablecoin, aka World Liberty Financial, aka Steve Witkoff’s slush fund, for payment.

And one other thing that’s burning a hole in my bonnet (to mix metaphors). Those people who would judge Trump by his craziest schemes and power grabs, please judge Congress and Democrats using the same standard. Our government consists of more than King and country. Our Congress, and layered with that, the state governments, and city governments that refuse to govern but would rather preen and virtue signal, whether they are signaling to blue-state sanctuary city types or red-state “teach the Bible in public schools” folks, they’re nuts.

The ratio of nuts to sane is way too high. Kristi Noem, if you remember, was elected governor of South Dakota twice, after serving in the House for that state for eight years. She won six elections, and nobody learned that she was completely, absolutely nuts. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is 100 percent a creep. How he kept getting elected is really beyond my understanding. The guy’s own wife sat in the state senate listening to her husband’s impeachment trial (she didn’t vote), which somewhat centered on his infidelity to her. And he’s running for Sen. John Cornyn’s seat, and might beat the guy in the runoff (I hope not).

MTG resigned from the House when she realized that Trump was only dog-whistling anti-semitism, but actually is very friendly with Jews. So she joined the ranks of Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes and Candace Owens in the Jew-haters society, claiming that the Zionists control Trump. They’re all nuts.

Democrats are not much better, but by comparison, yeah, they are only sitcom versions of the Republican jokers. I don’t have time or space to write more about them.

We’ve gone nuts, and down this road lies more insanity, and beyond that, nobody knows. But folks are going to make a lot of money if they learn Mandarin.
