Let's face it. Democrats want Biden, a weak incumbent, to run against Trump, who they don't want to win. They are likely to get their wish, and the Monkey's Paw that goes with it.

Interesting read and you answered your questions with this one paragraph Jay: "The Former Guy built up an insurmountable lead over the past four years as Republican leaders failed to hold him accountable or offer anything more than mild criticism to his excesses and outlandish - even criminal - behavior."

When a political party is unwilling to hold their own accountable, their legitimacy has to be questioned. Nope, not saying they aren't the real deal, but their inability to do so, deprives them of any sense of honesty, honor or credibility by at least half of the voting populace.

Norms have long played a role in politics and how we lived. The orange guy shattered every one of them. The Grand Old Party and all of the things conservatives have stood for have been replaced by one single goal; winning at any cost.

The upside is, the price of winning has driven countless numbers of R's away from the party and created an entirely new paradigm of independents. This shift will ultimately be the group who decides who wins in 2024.

It would be my humble opinion that the vast majority of those once proud, strong conservatives will not compromise their values to vote for a man devoid of ethics, humanity and common decency. We'll see.
