"Harris proposed a long-debunked economic theory one step adjacent to communism"

No link, and no description of what exactly it is: so, dish.

That clarifies the subject - price gouging - but not how that's somehow a step towards communism, especially considering 37 states have some form of price gouging law (typically related to emergencies) already on the books.

You know what I'd love to see? Some actual breakdown of what communism is - or perhaps thought to be - and how that applies to both Democrats and Republicans.

'cause it generally seems to be that basically anything Democrats propose against a knee-jerk reaction of "Communism" regardless of actual policy.

For example: book bans seem pretty darn communist to me.

No. Book bans are totalitarian. Communism is not by itself totalitarian. However every time it’s been implemented in a nation state it has led to totalitarianism. So from a smoking causes cancer perspective, communism has a pretty good causal correlation with totalitarianism. But by no means is it the only, or even primary, cause. Authoritarianism derived from theocratic rule, monarchist, or nationalism can also result in totalitarianism and book burning.

The common thread of all those listed is illiberalism.

Just to get into this further: one definition of communism is where "the public owns the major means of production, such as factories and mines, and the state controls all property and wealth."

Too often any social policy is conflated with the above, even when it is not the case.

Price gauging :)

"And I will work to pass the first-ever federal ban on prou- — price gauging [gouging] on food."
