I live in a relatively populous county by Georgia standards. There were four early voting locations open and very few voters used them (maybe 20% turnout). The only campaign signs in view where I voted were for cheaper power. I do not believe the Georgia voter's desire for cheaper power is compatible with solar energy or reliability. Most of the state is served by EMCs and municipalities which are not regulated by the PSC. I am an EMC customer, and my power is interrupted at least twice a month and costs more than Georgia Power Company. With regard to data centers, connected load of 25 KW or more have their choice of suppliers and are not limited by franchised areas. Municipalities and counties where they are located have ways of influencing who is selected.
Yeah, I see one of the EMCs mentioned is the one that serves me. My point is that it has nothing to do with the PSC and the newly elected commissioners. Voter ignorance is appalling. Unless there is a general rate increase for Georgia Power, the only voters whose rate will be affected are those served by MEAG and Oglethorpe Power EMCs.
Solar energy is the cheapest form of energy per kilowatt at the moment, so it is compatible - especially with the new sodium-ion batteries coming out for grid-level storage.
One important thing for Dems is to avoid letting the Mamdani fans make anything of his election: he's only just above 50% at the moment, which is not a great showing for him.
This is a good point, the centrist governors in VA and NJ performed much better. There is a lesson there, but the hard left within that party probably won’t take it because they are too frequently concerned with purity tests.
What we saw last night was the electorate shooting itself in the foot, as it is wont to do. Electing as AG someone who should be cooling his heels behind bars instead of becoming the top cop in the state of VA. Electing a Communist to head the largest city in the country is completely irresponsible, if not insane. And electing two far left women as governors in VA and NJ respectively. Yes, the Democrat party cleaned the republicans' proverbial clock, but the buyer's remorse will be profound.
Oh, please, you thought you had me in a corner. But I'll bite, ever since GHWB, this country has been on a downward trajectory, and it certainly won't get any better any time soon.
Yeah, but you come here to complain when someone like David is being unfair to the Communist Donald Trump - can we expect the same defenses for the Communist Zohran Mamdani?
My complaints have to do with either his unfairness, or the fact he seems way too fixated on Trump, like there is nothing else he could possibly write about in this world.
Looks like Prop 50 passed in California, so we'll see if Newsom can redraw CA's districts to counter Texas's mid-cycle redistricting.

This is what I’m talking about. https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/2022/12/southeast-solar-portfolio-to-power-meta-data-centers/

Maybe, depending on location and scale. But a stable reliable grid depends on spinning reserves.

It's good to remember that the leftists aren't Democrats and hate the Democratic Party more than the GOP.

"Electing a Communist to head the largest city in the country is completely irresponsible, if not insane."
Any more insane than a Crony Communist running the entire country?[1]
I miss when self-declared conservatives complained about the gov't picking winners and losers. Solyndra seems SO quaint now.

Nice try, Chris, but remember, I didn't vote for Trump. Lol
I didn't ask if you voted for Trump. I asked if him leading the country was more insane than Mamdani leading New York City.

By your standard re Jay Jones, I imagine that means a lot of GOP electeds across the country should be in jail too - right?
Perhaps, idk.
