David, Just an FYI- Women aren't afraid when out alone that some illegal or legal immigrant is going to attack them. Women are wary that any man may attack them- because the odds of a woman getting attacked and raped are very high. Maybe that's the right lesson to learn here.

I think it's one in three women will be victimized by some scumbag sexual predator. Now there's a story you may want to explore. Laken Riley, out jogging during the day on a beautiful campus, I'm sure never dreamed that she would be raped and bludgeoned to death. The real lesson to learn is that women alone cannot afford to lower their guard anywhere, apparently.

Well written, well stated and yet we see at least one commenter clinging to the tired old trump line of how they "send us their worst." Yikes.

You provided the links to support your facts, but facts to those who want to scream about how horrible "illegals" are could care less. It's the narrative they want and need to support a potential criminal as their next president. One could argue, New York has sent us their "worst."

But alas, with all the verbiage, all the links and supporting data, here is the one sentence that says it all: "If you don’t like this, you should probably support immigration reform to change the law." Let me shout it to make my point: "IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY SUPPORT IMMIGRATION REFORM TO CHANGE THE LAW."

Amen brother, amen.

You do realize that several nations that have allowed the worst and dullest to invade America have been asked to take their criminals back by the US Government and have refused to accept them. I wonder why that would happen.

Why would anyone favor ignoring the mandatory provision (shall be detained) of a law and endorse the optional provision (asylum may be considered)?

Castro emptied his prisons and provided a means for the inmates to get to the USA or drown along the way. Why is it not reasonable to believe that other nations unfriendly to the USA would do the same or worse? There is no way in hell to vet illegals who show up with phony asylum claims. If only 10% of them are foreign unfriendlies or criminals, the Biden administration has admitted, so far, an invasion of 800,000 criminals, terrorists and foreign agents. This is a national emergency, and the president should close the border in accordance with the provisions of USC 1182.

"Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate."

The following is a link to the Cuban story. I got a first-hand account from one of my golfing buddies who was a Miami police lieutenant and whose parents were Cuban immigrants.

Funding.

Funding what? All the President has to do is close the border. Then no funding is needed for processing phony asylum claims or detention or NGOs. Any illegals encountered after that can be immediately deported. If their country of origin will not take them, start applying diplomatic pressure, economic sanctions, trade embargos, cutting aid or whatever it takes. Build uncomfortable concentration camps with the bare necessities of life.

I just watched an interview with Tom Homan. I don't know that he is always correct but he knows the reality of the border crisis. He stated that illegals have to pay the cartels more to become "getaways" than to be delivered to a border crossing that allows them access to officials who will give them food and medical care and take their names for an asylum hearing sometime in the next decade before they are transported to their desired destination by NGOs that we pay for. Mr. Homan speculated on why they wanted to bypass a process that coddled them in favor of one that did not subject them to finger printing, DNA sampling or picture taking. Good questions that deserve answers.

This piece reflects perfectly the regressive left's position on the invasion at our southern border and we know from the polls that 70% of the country can see through these lies and half truths and don't buy it. An immigration law that does not stop catch and release is a non starter to the vast majority of Americans.

Crime in America is directly impacted by the illegals because the countries that are sending their citizens are sending the dregs of their society to have us solve their problems. If you let criminals in, you should expect criminal activity to increase in America.

We have become the official dumpster nation of mankind and desperately need a real leader to turn this around. That is why Trump will win the next election and America will get back on the right track.

Not an invasion.

You're wrong about immigration and crime levels.

And you're showing your bigotry about those that seek to migrate to the USA.

You looked at statistics which are a measure of those who are caught. Did you ever wonder how sanctuary city and state policies skewed those statistics? Do you think the Massachusetts judge who allowed an illegal to sneak out the back door to avoid ICE agents is a one-off occurrence? Too many ifs to trust statistics.
