Lewandowski, an unpaid special government employee who unofficially acts as chief of staff for Noem — with whom he’s had a years-long affair — has overseen a reign of terror over department staff since President Trump took office last year. (Credit to the New York Post).

From a guy who flies VIPs for a living, that story is appaling. It wasn't the pilot's job to get the blanket. Maybe an FA or aide.
Noem sounds like a nightmare passenger/boss. I've rarely had anything approaching that sort of experience and usually then from charter passengers with a large sense of entitlement. They probably would have done the pilot a favor by firing him so that he didn't have to work for her, especially since he probably would have gone back to another USCG job with better quality of life.
The old saying that you should judge people by how they treat their help is largely true.
