At 75 years of age, i have this ugly disposition of late to crawl under the bed covers and tune the whole world out. Sadly, i suspect i am not alone. Ignoring life and its challenges is way easier than facing them On the other hand, are those who feel compelled to be the center of every controversy. If only we could balance them out, perhaps normalcy would become in vogue.
Extremism is the norm these days. How outrageous can we be? It no longer matters if what i am spewing makes any sense at all; it only matters if i can grab a headline, trigger an emotion or become a social media "influencer." Think about it...moron's with millions of followers.
For some reason, when i crawl out from under said covers, and read my news feeds, and i open links to columns and comments, i find myself questioning and then answering this way; irrespective of left or right equations. It's this basic and simple for me (does that make me simple?): If you tell me you hate Jews, blacks or gays, please don't in the same vein tell me you aren't an anti-Semite, Anti-Black or anti-Gay. Please don't insult my intelligence.
The old adage; you are what you eat, works here as well...you are what you spew. Thanks for calling those out David for exactly what they are.
About 20 years ago, I subscribed to a newsletter that covered several subjects including lifestyle, health, diet, whiskey, politics, foreign relations and more. The author was not overly opinionated, but he did have some thoughts on Muslims. He wrote that Pakistan was the most dangerous nation on earth - Muslims with nukes. He also wrote that, eventually, Muslims would control much of the planet because of their high birth rate, their ingrained fanaticism and their willingness to go to war with non-Muslims. He opined that various Muslim sects would begin to fight among themselves after the infidels were mostly vanquished.
