All four presidents involved with Afghanistan deserve blame. For this debacle with our allies, both Trump and Biden deserve blame for not making their extraction and safety a priority.

I fully expect that Trump would have encountered more or less the same situation. He'd then have used his signature "It is what it is" and moved on.

I made my comments yesterday on your page written by apparently no one. The entire Biden administration should be held accountable for how badly this was bungled. That said, my mail box was full with "experts" sharing their opinions. I think i have gotten at least 5 pieces by Erick Erickson in the last two days, the entire Bulwark crew has shared their thoughts and now you guys are adding to it.

Yet nowhere have i seen anyone tell me the "right way" to have handled this. Almost everyone claims we should have stayed a little longer with a better plan to evacuate those who supported us. Agreed. But where should they have gone with better planning?

Charlie Sykes had an incredible piece on the Right's Anti-Refugee Jihad today. Did you read it Steve? Because the whole slew of them screaming at Biden are in the same breath shouting

, don't let them come here. Where should they have gone?

I hated Biden's speech yesterday. Hated it. The buck doesn't stop there if you stand there trying to pass it. This has been a cluster-flock from the beginning. We have spent boatloads of money that i suspect some of it has left the country along with the leadership. On the other side of the coin is a good number of Afgans have had a taste of a better life. Was it worth it?

Smarter people than me will make those decisions. Smarter people than me are wading in on what has happened. Hopefully smarter people than me will make better choices as we travel down the road in the future. I would appreciate one answer from you Steve; where should those we have left behind have gone? Because i would guess a good number of them will be on planes out of there in the next week.

If there’s a real world example of “you owe me a living,” it’s the many Afghans we promised a better life and reneged on it. We should accept every single one. It was implicit in the bargain of removing the Taliban when we did that. We don’t get to renege and say “oh too bad.” But that’s exactly what Biden’s policy is doing. I’m sure Trump would have been worse, blaming the very Afghans who helped us for their own fate. They’re both unforgivable buffoons for their folly.

Thanks Steve, we agree on virtually all of what you wrote. I try and avoid back and forth but in this case, i think the more commentary on doing the right thing is important. Biden needs to get his head out of his ass and bring as many of the Afgans who helped us here and resettled in America. If the far right doesn't like it, tough crap.

Ultimately life is summed in these simple terms: Do The Right Thing.
