"Maybe my life is a bit sheltered, but it’s a bit hard for me to believe that this problem is as serious or widespread as its coverage would have us believe."

OR maybe YOU are the crazy uncle...

;-)

Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for all your writing this year.

Maybe so, but without the MAGA hat!

I've resolved that as the sole sibling among my own without children, it's my job to be the crazy Uncle Drosselmeyer bearing all sorts of strange news and gifts for the nieces and nephews.

To all our readers, have a happy, food-coma and football-filled Thanksgiving. Avoid politics, collect hugs.

I'll take politics over hugs. Better idea - keep both to yourselves!

Sincerely,

A recovering introvert

Very cool David; weaving The Art Of War and John Lennon into the same story. I'm impressed.

I guess it's a touch early for snapping AR-15 Christmas photo cards with the entire family eh?

Forever the optimist; why not start the banter for drafting Duane "The Rock " Johnson as the candidate for both parties? Who really knows which he is? What a way to bring both sides of the equation to the table. The biggest argument will be which kind of "pie" he favors (wink and a nod to all the old wrestling fans out there).

Finally; really Curtis? The Biden administration is worse than the bat-shit crazy bunch trump brought together? My word, the Grand Old Grifter Party (GOGP) will easily go down in our history as the most disingenuous collection of clowns, frauds and hucksters ever assembled.

With that bit of nasty out of my system; Happy Thanksgiving to all...even and especially you Curtis.

Trump certainly had a talent for indiscriminately running his mouth and picking political operatives who undermined his policies. He also had a bad habit of not listening to some, like Mulvaney, who gave him great practical and political advice. Even then, his policies worked far better than what we are getting from Biden and his cabinet. I think the whole bunch of them are subversive and anti-American. Trump might have been a grifter. Most politicians are, but I don't think he was selling out the USA.

Happy Thanksgiving to you also.

Please be specific on what policies, exactly, were better and why.

No policies implemented by Trump were aimed at destroying the USA. On the other hand, Biden is destroying the economy by overregulation and reckless spending on social left-wing programs. He is destroying the national identity and economy by failing to secure the borders and allowing unfettered illegal immigration. He is destroying the national security by ruining the military to the extent that they can no longer come close to meeting recruiting goals except by lowering standards and admitting misfits. He, like most bureaucrats, can't find a way to stop fraudulent distribution of Federal welfare and relief funds.

I've stated all this before, but liberals can always find a way to excuse what appears to me to be deliberate malfeasance in Biden's (and Obama's) attempt to fundamentally transform America. I'm not buying the excuses and justifications. It can't be merely incompetence.

You're still just saying "they're bad". Which regulations? Which reckless spending orders? How do they *really* compare when you get down to numbers?

Recruiting goals can't be met because the economy is good.

So, you never heard of the inflation reduction act or the requirement for military Covid vaccinations or the LBQT infiltration of the military or the cost of supporting millions of illegals or releasing impounded Iranian funds or policies to make franchisors responsible for a franchisee's business practices, or supporting labor union's outrageous demand that will make inflation even worse.

There is no way the economy is good enough to stifle military recruitment to the extent it falls short. More likely welfare provides for living expenses when the screwed-up education system fails to provide skills and knowledge and expectations and guidance necessary for youngsters to earn a living. Instead, the system provides for good feelings, preferred pronouns, grooming and safe spaces - all required to get federal funding and stay out of court.

Matter of opinion on spending priorities (as one can view the IRA positively); smart; "infiltration" is a sick way of putting it; support real immigration reform; Iran never got the money Trump let them earn; huh?; again, matter of opinion and needs proof of being a negative.

The economy is strong enough to get unions nice increases: that's and indicator that the balance is in labor's favor right now. So yeah: lower recruitment.

The rest will be ignored as ranting.

Not a problem. My Mom was a crazy democrat, but my remaining family all agree that the Biden administration is the worst ever.
