Honour is a big thing in those cultures. To see the IDF emasculate the Iran axis cohorts in the region is a welcome sight. Of course, even though they don’t seem to have the capacity to defend that honour, that doesn’t mean it will diminish their will.
So along those lines, I wouldn’t put much hope in permanent anything in the region, ceasefire or otherwise. It will be permanent only until the next time some Iran-affiliate breaks it.
It would take something from within Iran….maybe one day the Iranians will finally tire of their theocracy. Removing the benefactor to the hamas’s and hezbollah’s of the region might be the only long term way for Israel to be left alone.
Well, that's where you'd be wrong, sir. Although it is a bit surprising, I recognize that there are very many democrats who still support the State of Israel, some strongly so, just not Harris/Walz.
Ok, now now guys. I never said whether Biden’s actions were motivated by support of Israel or some love for its residents. He does, however, recognize that a wider war in the Middle East is best avoided by giving aid to the only ally we have there. We helped the Saudis fight the Houthis for 10 years and the Saudis lost. Qatar is two-faced. Israel is at least competent and generally trustworthy. So in pursuit of Biden’s policy goal of no big wars, he has put his hand on Israel in a good way.
Which is just baseless: she addressed the topic in her DNC acceptance speech, and it's the same policy the US has had for decades. Support Israel and try to get a two-state solution done.

I think you mean a Democrat that is at least, Israel friendly. That all could change under a Harris/Walz administration.
Harris and Walz will be similar on defending Israel, though perhaps with some more emphasis on reining in their "settlers" in the West Bank.
We will be in disagreement on that.
You'd say that for any Democrat, and I'm sure you'd have said that about Biden before he was POTUS/reality proved otherwise.

Great article. Thanks Steve
