Maybe Israeli politicians should work toward setting up a constitutional convention. I would not be at all happy with a Supreme Court that has no basis, other than personal preference, for their decisions but, maybe it works in a parliamentary system.
I can believe that, but does it mean the Knesset does not really make laws but just submits their suggestions to the Supreme Court to decide what they mean? That sounds very American except the executive branch bureaucrats are left out.
Me too. All I could find was that the Supreme Court acts based on established traditions. That seems to be a moving target. I did find a report by a reporter that agrees a constitution is needed.

My understanding is that Israeli courts are based in law, just not constitutional law.

I’d say the Knesset makes laws that are sometimes overturned. What I’m curious about is the basis for overturning the laws.
