Usually when you start writing about religion and the bible, i tune out, It's just way beyond my pay grade. Today's column was different. It was an introspective look and one i suspect you found cathartic to write and helpful to internalize who and where you are in your life.

That was perhaps the reason i kept reading. Having followed your writings for near on two years, i find you a bit of an anomaly. Even back in the old Resurgence days, you were never predictable. Most people become just that, especially in politics and their beliefs. You tended to move about freely in the cabin. That's not a criticism in any way shape or form.

That said, even with the length of the column, i stayed till the end. I wanted to follow you through and try and get a handle on where you were going and seeing where you came from. Here's my observation and again, not being critical; seems to me religion (whichever one you belong to or believe in) should be a calming voice in your head. Through all of your travels, i saw more conflict and turmoil, than peace of mind.

My parents raised me a Catholic but i never felt any sense of serenity from it. That came when i sobered up and found a higher power, not some organized religion. Each of us need find what brings us comfort and being okay with who and what we are. You've traveled a long road and wherever it takes you is always a personal journey. Thanks for having the courage to share yours with us.
