If your authentic self means that you are defrauding folks, it's time to find another authentic self. 0 sympathy for either man, and I'm glad they're being held to account.
Interesting read Steve and my most immediate reaction was almost joke-like: What's worse than a single judge with so much power? Easy answer; Nine chief justices with a lifetime job who can take all the graft they can collect while rendering unbiased opinions.
Seems to me a single judge has certain ethics qualifications/standards applied to them, while the SC has none. Oh wait, they have their own "high standards" to meet (said with a hearty chuckle).
I've been involved in a number of eminent domain cases, all for legitimate public purpose, not for private development. Condemnations for private development should be outlawed but all levels of government have gotten greedy for revenue and encouraged businessmen to "invest" in lucrative projects. That's what developers and manufactures do. They do it in Georgia and probably every other state in the union.
As a project manager, I was involved in my share of contract disputes concerning "extra" work, quality of work, labor problems, construction delays and misrepresentation of conditions. All I can say is that there are at least two sides in every case.
Mr. Trump may not have had pure motives in the way he conducted all of his deals, but he is not automatically guilty in every case. Even where loans were restructured to his advantage, there were settlement agreements.
Out of curiosity, I did a little research on Donald Trump to see what he was like before he ran for president in 2016. I was one of those who were stunned by Hillary's defeat, and decided that obviously Trump voters were not all "stupid" or "racists", etc.
Here's what I recall finding from old magazine articles not scrubbed from the internet back then: (Trump the racist and bigot?) When Trump first opened Mar-A-Lago, he invited Jews, Blacks and Gays to join, much to the dislike of some other private club owners in FL.
He was also honored with a dinner and great gratitude by Jesse Jackson of the Rainbow Coalition (Al Sharpton was in the large audience of this dinner party) for Trump's large Black workforce, and his donating space on Wall St. to the Rainbow Coalition.
(Trump the skirt-chaser) Another little nugget was the time that Donald Trump booted Jeffrey Epstein out of Mar-A-Lago for Epstein's sexually harassing a 16 yr old girl there - I think she was an employee's daughter.
(Trump the greedy SOB) There was also a story that instead of evicting a Black woman squatter in one of his properties, he had flowers sent to her.
(Trump the dog-hater) Trump was also a great supporter of the Westminster Dog Show, and he and his first wife, Ivana slept with her poodle in the bed every night.
Did you miss the ones, where as a matter of standard business practice, he would stiff contractors who worked for him, then try to negotiate more favorable rates after the work had been finished?
You tell yourself whatever you need to make the mental math work for you to support him, but let's not pretend that he's any sort of paragon of virtue.
You make valid criticisms of Trump re some of his past business dealings, but I think his first term as president was better than any other president I can recall - close the border? Hell yeah. Make other countries pay their fair share? Yep. Raised the standard of living for racial minorities and the middle class? and so on. Joe Biden .. . the worst president in our history.
No president has closed the border but at least Trump kept the illegal invasion at a minimal level.
Trump did cause some of our NATO allies to step up their participation'
Trump did take action against unfair trade practices. His actions might have caused some cost increases but nothing like we are now experiencing.
Standard of living is measured by GDP per capita. About 70% of GDP is consumer spending. It stands to reason that the if cost of consumer necessities increases like it has with Biden inflation, the GDP will increase. The standard of living is better only for those who make money from the stock market or have extra cash to deposit in CDs and other income producing investments.
Not an invasion, and as discussed we need changes to Federal law to make it so asylum can only be claimed at ports of entry - and making the system as a whole far more efficient to encourage crossing at a PoE instead of elsewhere.
No, immigration rose every year of his presidency until COVID struck.
NATO expenditures are not part of the treaty: it's a guideline, and one that is not mandatory.
Trump would put a blanket 10% tariff on imports: really think about how that's gonna affect food prices, not to mention basically everything else.
If your authentic self means that you are defrauding folks, it's time to find another authentic self. 0 sympathy for either man, and I'm glad they're being held to account.
What is more powerful than a judge sitting in his or her court?
Interesting read Steve and my most immediate reaction was almost joke-like: What's worse than a single judge with so much power? Easy answer; Nine chief justices with a lifetime job who can take all the graft they can collect while rendering unbiased opinions.
The tragedy? No one is laughing over the joke.
At least with 9 justices they get to rule with a majority of more than 1.

Or that time, he tried to evict a widow from her home, to expand a limo parking lot?

Didn't close the border.
"Make other countries page their fair share" - of what, exactly?
Standards of living are higher now than during Trump.
Remember: Trump was POTUS in 2020.
If you have actual numbers by all means share away: then we can have a real comparison.
No president has closed the border but at least Trump kept the illegal invasion at a minimal level.

Real GDP is higher than it was under Trump.
Oh, not to mention private manufacturing investment is up over 250% under Biden while it only grew 5% under Trump.
There was a victim to Trump's fraud, and that is the banks that forgave his fraudulently- acquired loans to the tune of $250mil dollars.
