Hopefully the case will be minor and completed in the same day if you're selected. The second time I was selected was to be the alternate juror on a minor case involving high speeds, and it ended in a mistrial due to the prosecution/law enforcement bringing up a drug test that was apparently verboeten.

The first time I was selected was for this case: https://www.mercurynews.com/2014/03/07/redwood-city-man-who-molested-a-dozen-boys-sentenced-to-life-in-prison/

Damn. I bet that took a while. I was not allowed to read the link but evidently he was proved guilty.

Try using Incognito or Private mode. Alternatively, https://www.smdailyjournal.com/news/local/jury-convicts-volunteer-of-molestation/article_d928de49-b663-5a13-b060-e154b53cbf0d.html.

It took a number of weeks, exactly how many I can't recall. We had to acquit on a couple of charges due to technicalities, and by the time the trial had started the 33 charges were down to 28 or 29.

It was overall a very interesting experience, and makes you appreciate the system in general.

I'm not sure defense lawyers will want pilots on the juries any more than they would want engineers. I have been dismissed from jury pools on five different occasions. The last time I was called I had just turned 75 and it interfered with my prepaid reservations on the Gulf so I used my prerogative as a super senior.
