I'm skeptical about the value of masks but a firm believer in vaccination. Neither is a conspiracy. The lady barber is not helping her religion.

The bigger thing that bugs me are the devout religious people rejecting the vaccines because they’d rather trust their faith in God to protect them. Reminds me of the classic story of the drowning man praying for salvation:

A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.

Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, "Jump in, I can save you."

The stranded fellow shouted back, "No, it's OK, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me."

So the rowboat went on.

Then a motorboat came by. "The fellow in the motorboat shouted, "Jump in, I can save you."

To this the stranded man said, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith."

So the motorboat went on.

Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, "Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety."

To this the stranded man again replied, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith."

So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.

Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, "I had faith in you but you didn't save me, you let me drown. I don't understand why!"

To this God replied, "I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?"

While I am fortunate that I haven't had an unpleasant experience at the barbershop as you did David, it is still pretty sad that so many people have bought into lies about masks and vaccines that are so laughably farfetched. A lot of the conspiracies they promote requires a government to be nimble, extraordinarily competent, and efficient! Most of us conservatives should know that our federal government is anything but that. And these very people have spread lies all throughout the past year, and I believe the misinformation is part of the reason why we lost more than 550k of our fellow Americans. Being conservative means that we should be responsible citizens. Spreading falsehoods, and refusing to follow safety precautions and guidelines such as mask wearing and social distancing, is not responsible behavior.

As for vaccine passports, I actually think it would be very helpful for those who travel internationally, among other things. Before the pandemic, I travelled overseas a lot for both work and leisure, and I think having one would really help resuscitate tourism and business travel. If it becomes available, I would like to have a vaccine passport.

I just got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine earlier today. As I drove back home afterwards, I felt gratitude to God for making this possible. Many of us have been praying throughout the past year for a Covid-19 vaccine, and I know that a merciful and loving God has answered our prayers.
