You'd think that whatever beefs you had with one candidate and his stance towards gas stoves would be GREATLY outweighed by a candidate willing to enlist thugs on his behalf to go after critics.*
Erickson could have stayed silent on this, but instead decided that he needed to carry water for the folks who sic'ed the local SWAT teams on him and his family. If I were his wife or children, I'd be asking, "WTF, Dad?"
* And before I get the push-back from the apologists that Trump himself didn't tell his supporters specifically to violently threaten Erickson's family (and others), the man is on record at his rallies encouraging similar behavior and promising to pay for the assailants' lawyers.
And for selling out his integrity (and family), what did Erickson get LAST time from Trump?
"As he wrote of accepting Trump as his president, Erickson said there are reasons for those of his political ilk to be optimistic about the incoming administration. The promised repeal of the Affordable Care Act will be welcomed by Erickson, who said he would also like to see the Dodd-Frank Act and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act rolled back."[1]
The ACA is still kicking and stronger than ever. Trump's eternal "we'll release OUR plan in two weeks" continual failure ensured that.
The Dodd-Frank Act is still with us.
Trump relaxed some reporting requirements on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, but he did much else on that front?
From what I can tell, Erickson didn't actually get a lot for the price he paid selling out his family and credibility. And here he goes for another kick at the football...
Erik Erikson is a tremendous disappointment. Are there any conservative talk hosts who are putting country and Constitution over party????? I appreciate your use of Liz Cheney's astute observation. It is my mantra.
Thanks for another great column David. This fascination by the far right (what does that even mean anymore?) to paint Joe as a wild-eyed liberal would be funny if not so pathetic. Take almost any topic and lay it alongside reality and it falls apart (as you did).
It sent me searching, because my opinions are biased. What i do know is the pandemic was a global affair. It wasn't just the USA that was crippled and crushed, but every country felt the impact of Covid19.
So, how has the US done since then? Here's the header from Feb 24 issue of US News:
The 10 Largest Economies in the World.
The U.S. remains tops by a wide margin in the wake of COVID-19, while other countries are grappling with recessions.
Don't you all just hate when facts separate fiction and the friction that pours forth from trump et al? Reality is a bugger and worse yet, corporations across the country are making record profits off the backs of price increases they no longer need, but refuse to let go of. Perhaps EE should suggest something as new and unique as "price controls" to reign them in.
Our new reality is to let trump and his hoard of minions spout the nonsense that sells their misplaced sense of right and wrong. Trump's been a blowhard, con man and liar for his entire life. Hard to believe, but as he ages, he gets worse.
That’s a good question. The answer is that voters don’t like him and Democrats have blocked much of his legislative agenda, but Republicans are unwilling to check his authoritarian impulses or hold him accountable. The checks and balances held - barely - in the first time. Maybe they’d hold for a second term, but I wouldn’t bet the country on it.
On the latter issue: he has now had one administration in which his worst impulses were either blocked or otherwise reduced in effect by the "adults in the room". He would not be as constrained during a second admin as he would be assigning loyalists who would instead enact such policies with gusto - 'cause he and his allies now know where the system weaknesses exist.
Lordy, Erick has Stockholm Syndrome BAD.
Remember when Trump's brownshirts threatened his family and he had to hire extra security? Pepperidge Farm remembers:

That’s very interesting. I guess China has probably been more hurt by the pandemic than I realized.
How did Trump evolve from being a "perennial loser" to having the political acumen to establish an "imperial presidency", if reelected?
