Something to indeed be thankful for. Progress on matters of criminal justice has been and currently progresses in incremental, baby steps forward, as sometimes attitudes are slow to change. Too slow for many of us. But every bit of progress made is something worth being thankful for. When it comes to counting one’s blessings, I include the Arbery verdict as one of them. David, I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
And I hope everyone else at the Racket News(Steve, Jay, and all those who comment here.) had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well.

Happy belated Thanksgiving to all of you at The Racket News David. One step forward, two steps back. As we watch justice finally being done regarding the Arbery murder, there's another one just around the corner from you that is unfolding. Frankly, it is beyond comprehension.
Kevin Strickland is being released after more than 40 years for murders he didn't commit. I won't recap, but to mention the governor and Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt fought to keep him imprisoned. Doesn't say much for our legal system does it.
It gets worse though; the state of Missouri has a law that says he cannot recoup his time served unless there is proof via DNA that absolves him. In this case the witness recanted her claims and said she was pressured by the police to include Strickland with others. Those prosecuted admitted freely Strickland wasn't with them.
I'm no fan of reparations. That said, i am a firm believer if you take a human beings life away and you were wrong, you flat out owe him. Thank goodness people around the country feel the same way. The go fund me page started by the prosecutor who worked to free him has raised over a million dollars. Maybe there is hope yet in this country. Unfortunately i've yet to see it from some of the good old boys in the south who see blacks as less than human.
Thank you for this complete write up of this case. Too many people point to the conviction without mentioning how closely his family came from never having justice. We also need to realize that it was the media who made sure this crime was punished. Either way, there is still alot of work to do about racial equality in this country.
