Setting all the vitriol and political bullshit aside; the overarching problem with all this is the complete stupidity in gathering all the succession actors in one vulnerable semi public place at the same time. Iran did this a couple of months ago and look at what happened there. If five well trained guys with AR-15s had stormed the ballroom enough would likely have got in and started a small war with all the armed Secret Service agents and the hapless guests in the middle soaking up most of the bullets.
Members of this administration are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
That said, you'd think that someone in the Secret Service would have nixed these plans, but the folks there bright enough to do that may have been part of earlier purges of "disloyal" members or were smart enough to quit the service before the circus really got started.
Has anyone looked to see if Dan Bongino has commented on this?

He hinted last evening on Fox News regarding the Secret Service response that “when this is behind us there are some things that need to be looked at”
Wow. Haven’t been reading enough Matt T recently. Didn’t realize he disliked the president so much now
