Susan, don't be so giddy. How are you by the way and why aren't you writing more on here?

I'm good. I got caught up in my day job, and some things going on on the homefront, but I plan on putting something out for The Racket soon.

"My personal view is that politicians should be held accountable for their actions to an even greater degree than ordinary citizens. People who are charged with making sure that the rest of us obey the law should set an example by following laws, not flouting them. If these politicians don’t set a good example, they should be made an example."

This, 100 percent agree and endorse.

No, absolutely no passes to anyone. Doesn't matter the party, if you are guilty you are guilty, don't care if you lean left or lean right. As you said David, no one is above the law. I was disappointed in your buddy EE's email this morning. Trying to make it sound as if the dems are "over-playing" their hand.

Duh. This isn't the dems, these are justice department investigators doing their job. You were spot on point; trump blunted them at every turn. Now it is time to pay the piper. He knew he needed to win to stay above this, he didn't. He knew this was coming and why he attempted to overcome the loss with a steamy pile of horse manure.

What is odd is how the GOPer's are trying to save his backside when if they let this play out, he will be gone and they can fight over what is left of the rotting carcass of the GOP. Hopefully the real shit heads who acted as if nothing happened will be covered in the stinking droppings he leaves behind and the normal. sane republicans will once again become the base of the party.

I think that Republicans are terrified of alienating Trump's base. That's their calculation.

I think this is myopic on their parts because frankly, is any Trump supporter going to skip voting next election if someone like Kamala Harris is the candidate? They’ve demonized the Dems to such an extent these Trump voters would vote for any R just to keep a “Marxist-SJW” out of office.

No question David, it is their calculation. My question is far more esoteric: how the flock do you live with yourself when you know everything you stand for is nothing more than a big lie? Seriously, i get it the brain dead believe the nonsense trump is spewing, but most of these goper's aren't idiots. They know it's pure crapola but are willing to sell their souls to placate the orange guy. Sorry, when the price of "winning" is you lose any sense of dignity, you forfeit the right to any "high moral ground the GOP used to be so proud of.

Freaking shameless human beings.

Some of their calculation must be with an eye towards changing demographics, in that the Millenials and GenZ will soon represent the majority of voters - and they are (generally) more liberal/GOP skeptic. If they miss their shot to seize power and pass voting restrictions ('Tegridy!') that help them continue to be competitive, then they'll have to - gulp - evolve their positions to attract voters.

Considering they've pretty much given up on attracting voters with ideas and are solely relying on culture war/demonization of Democrats, that's gonna be a tough swing.

I’ve come to believe that America would be better served by having Congress officially investigate every former president after their terms of office are over. This would help ensure that each President knows that any corrupt or unethical behaviors while in office will eventually be exposed to the public, and hold them accountable, on the record, for their actions.
