Another flag flap for you!

A 19th century flag disrupts leadership at an Illinois museum and prompts a state investigation:

"The flag, measuring 7-foot-5 by 6-foot-5 (2.26 meters by 1.96 meters), is known as a 'Grand Luminary” because its 21 stars are arranged in the shape of a star. The museum is confident it represents Illinois’ admission as the 21st state, spokesperson Christopher Wills said."

"Such flags are rare because the design was changed a year later when Alabama and Maine joined the Union."

"But Jeff Bridgman, a respected vexillologist, or flag expert, told The Associated Press its construction and materials indicate the flag was produced decades later, during the Civil War, and is perhaps a Southern exclusionary flag whose stars represent states that remained loyal to the Union."

I've run into quite a few, particularly online, but several in the real world as well. They're more underground these days.

Shout out as well to Jay, B, great idea. But alas, i find the symbolism we attach to stuff a bit troubling. Rather than having any real meaning, it appears to be more about in your face bravado and worse, a great big F-you.

Like your neighbors Q sign David; what's the point other than to irritate those seeing it, or proving they don't have much left in the way of working brain cells? When walking my dogs every day, i see the occasional trump 24 flag flying and ask myself why? I don't feel the need to respond in-kind. What inspires people to want to irritate their neighbors?

I was and still am horrified by the sight of donald trump wrapping himself in the flag that day on the stage. Horrified. Why would anyone, let alone the president of the United States, show so much disrespect for the symbol that represents everything this country stands for. Spare me the argument it was for the love. Kind of like carrying that oh-so-precious bible upside down. He's just a goof.

As far as Alito and Thomas's wives; just wow. Throw in that other scoundrel, Bob Mendez, and we now see the new way out...'it's my wife's fault." Shame on all of them.

Have a safe Memorial Day. Just watched Platoon yesterday; what a cast.
