The one thing I think is important is that support for Israel must still involve holding the humans involved in running the state's affairs to legal and moral ethics, and that not every action taken by the state can be supported just because it's Israel.
Agreed. The government of Israel is also accountable to God. However when opposition to Israel includes the existence of the Jewish state, existence is paramount.
Isaiah and some of the other prophets must be turning over in their graves about now: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given……”. You can no more divorce the Old Testament from the New than you can separate Jesus from the Cross.
Since I was very young, my mother taught us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. It wasn’t until my late teens that she finally explained why. I am a Christian and I support Israel and the Jewish people wherever they live. I do not prescribe to replacement theology. It disgusts me and is antithetical to everything I was taught from the time I was little. My husband is in a Bible study and this semester they are doing Revelation and one thing I know for sure is the important role that the Jewish people will play in end times. Read Revelation 11. I do agree with SGman, I do not support Netanyahu and his yes men and if they are not held accountable on this earth, I know one day they too will kneel before God and answer for their crimes.
Interesting piece, but with some very odd assertions.
Joe Rogan is clearly not anti-Semitic. He’s hosted controversial people, but his style is open, free-form discussion with a wide range of people, including Jews.
Make an inference that conservative Evangelicals are now openly discussing and promoting conspiracies against Israel and Jews is asinine. Maybe more so a reflection of your heart towards fellow believers with different perspectives than you?
Andy Stanley is certainly suspect in his “unhitching”. Jesus directly quoted OT, frequently. As did the authors of the NT.
A most chilling read. As you and I debated the New Testament some time ago, your words illuminate the issues of those with agendas less pure for our shared humanity and the need for understanding and education. We have seen this playbook before ; how we respond will reveal our shared ethics and beliefs. Hopefully realization of what is right will prevail thank you for this discussion.
