Drat. It looks like the stock I purchased in the "Perpetual Totalitarian Social Credit System Enforced By The FDA" company will soon be worthless.

Without the pandemic, what excuse will the Authoritarian Socialists in the Deep State use to keep Real Americans from doing their jobs or engaging in commerce, and subject them to a Chinese / East German surveillance state with controls over freedom(s) that is the ONLY way for Democrats to retain power?

We just came out of quarantine. My 4 yr old granddaughter and 6 year old grandson had covid. The 6 yr old is fully vaccinated and had a sore throat and cough, the 4 year old had no symptoms. Luckily, the 6 adults in our constant contact all tested negative. Protocols work when everyone participates. Too many unmasked, runny nose and slightly fevered kids at both their schools. We were fortunate. Many we know were not. Several of us are high risk and will continue to mask and social distance for the foreseeable future. We are not harming anyone physically or emotionally by masking ourselves or stepping away from people when we feel their breath on ourselves. They however could potentially harm us. I have drawn my line in the sand. We have done our part and I don’t understand people’s attitudes.

With regards to Kevin McCarthy. Comedian Noel Casler, hilariously, nailed it with his tweet

"Kevin McCarthy ran down that hall like he was being chased by a bunch of white dudes looking for some ‘legitimate political discourse’"]

The most obvious reason is the mid-term elections. Democrats are concerned about losing congress, governors and state legislatures despite the fact that they are winning the gerrymandering battles so far.

You so easily forget the unmasking and removal of restrictions last year...

How's this: show us what's actually closed at the moment, and which restrictions are in place and when they were put into place. And then explain how those were not appropriate at the time, with the information available at the time.

I guess. Where was that?

Time for you to do your own work: show that there has been a general never-loosening of restrictions and mandates, that things never opened up at all. We'll be here for you to maybe find one example, or more likely deflect or shift the goalposts.

Right. I've narrowed my focus to the last few days. The only restrictions loosened last year were in red states. New York, California, Oregon, New Jersey, Virginia and similar locales did no such thing.

Illinois did away with the indoor mask mandate last summer, then reinstated it after cases started rising again. We had about 45 days where I didn't have to don a mask to make a trip to the john at my office building.

Oh look, you shifted the goalpost. What a surprise. /Sarcasm

I live in CA, and indoor mask restrictions for vaccinated people were lifted last Summer. Outdoor was free game.

The entire mandate system was revamped to be at the county level, and the only statewide mandate currently in effect is applicable to everyone while in public indoor spaces - and that started again with omicron. It's ending next week for vaccinated people, at least as a statewide mandate. How counties decide to proceed is up to them.

Look at the timeline under Government Response at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_California.
