From the linked AP article on Biden's delegating Harris to handle border issues:
"Harris is tasked with overseeing diplomatic efforts to deal with issues spurring migration in the Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, as well as pressing them to strengthen enforcement on their own borders, administration officials said. She’s also tasked with developing and implementing a long-term strategy that gets at the root causes of migration from those countries."
That's a limited purview for a root cause, and not the border itself.
She's already put out an ad stating her support for the Lankford bill and to attack Trump for killing it, and stated during a rally this week that she'd revive and sign said bill into law if she's POTUS.
So I guess I have to say "Thanks Trump for killing your own narrative!"
I'm not a big poll watcher, but i am a huge believer in trends and momentum. There's little doubt or question right now whose mojo is working, and whose isn't. The shirts of it is, the next several weeks weeks will spike the ball for ,LA (saw it on a cap to help those on the right who thing it's funny to mispronounce her name) as she names a VP pick (better than vance) and then the explosive dem convention where they turn it into a celebration of life and all things good about this country.
While i was unimpressed by Hulk Hogan (the steroid god) and kid rock (who?), i suspect the Chicago event will host A-listers of real note. We'll see, but the bandwagon has already started to fill. Everyone loves a winner.
Finally, watching Kamala at her rallies, i have been stunned by her growth from 2019/2020. She's clearly used her time well as VP. As a student of speeches, her use of the pregnant pause has been exceptional. It obviously goads trump, and the further he goes off the rails, the more he pushes those undecided into the Harris camp. Plus, her smile is infectious.
"Quoted in Politifact from a speech on the Senate floor, Lankford said, “It’s not that the first 5,000 [migrants encountered at the border] are released, that’s ridiculous. The first 5,000 we detain, we screen and then we deport. If we get above 5,000, we just detain and deport.”"
There is already a law in place that requires detention and screening. The law also provides for a Presidential option in the event the system is overwhelmed. Joe Biden ignored the law and, based on her earlier position statements, Kamala would do the same. To claim that the defeated bill would have changed anything is dishonest.
Current law requires screening every detainee, while the changes in Lankford's bill sets a limit at which no screening is required to deport a detainee - without requiring POTUS to have to be involved. That's a far more workable and flexible system than currently exists, and does not rely on the whims of the executive.
But Trump wanted to maintain the status quo, so...
That's a reasonable comment but I do not believe it would improve the situation and it would be costly. The bill would allow the Homeland Security Secretary enormous discretion for exceptions somewhat like prosecutorial discretion that allows DAs to free thugs and prosecute self-defense as in the case of Mr. Penny. It also would allow the Secretary to enact the emergency provisions in whole or in part for all classes of aliens. It would authorize meddling privileges for the President. How effective it is would depend on the integrity of the President and the Secretary.
A better solution would be to set immigration quotas and standards for all classes of aliens and provide funds for enforcement.
I suspect that the term "liar" will never be applied to Kamala if she is elected (and I believe she will be because Trump hate is the most powerful emotion on earth) even after her whoppers about positions on issues important to citizens are exposed. The reaction from the authors and most commenters will be: Oh well, it's not Trump.
While I won't be voting for either of these "weird" candidates, if I had any rooting interest at all, and because most of America unfortunately WILL be voting for one or the other of them, I will be hoping Trump is the choice. We already had 4 years of him, and America survived, so, better the devil you know than the devil you don't know.
The Vance couch thing - while hilarious - is false.
I'd spend more time pointing that out if JD wasn't buddy'ing up with others who made more outrageous false claims, like Pizzagate Jack:

Karma is not a very nice lady, as they say.

Yeah it’s frustrating that David is totally accepting their spin on this.

Who'd a thunk it?
Dunno if we say this is weird or more of a "showing your a**" moment: https://x.com/JoshMcKoon/status/1819359936196809125

Paul Whelan and Evan Gershkovich are coming home.

So it would have been OK for some folks to vote Biden because we survived his term?
People can vote for whom they like, this is America, but they have to be prepared for the consequences of their choice.
Yup bad and worse. Depends on which you believe fits the description.
