"The funny thing is we all know this is going to turn out fine. Starfleet will be restored and Picard will save the galaxy."

Umm, how far did you get in Discovery?

Overall, I concur with your review. The last episode (#5), in particular showed how you close a book on a character and a decades-old unresolved storyline.

I didn’t want to do any major plot spoilers so I appreciate your delicacy in not mentioning the character. I agree however. Well done and with class. My 13yo asked about the back story and I simply told him to go watch the old series.

I could not get through a single episode before turning it off or losing interest. Maybe I’ve watched three episodes. It was way too forced to be good.

Skipping forward to the first couple of episodes of Season 3 might be illuminating, re: the fate of Starfleet and the Federation. :-)

Plus you get to watch Academy Award Winner Michelle Yeoh giving David Cronenberg a hard time in the context of artificial intelligences. Yeoh's scene chewing is worth struggling through all the forced elements of that series.
