Trump always uses whatever means available to justify his ends. Not sure what the ends are here. Interested to know why today is the day to “liberate DC”.

Whatever is in the Epstein files must be really bad...

The real answer is likely just him consolidating power

I don't know I think his motive is to get American Troops in every blue city before the election.

Trump lie? That's like asking Alfred E Neuman if he worries? Damn, now i'm dating myself.

Of course he lies: His life has been a lie; his career a lie; his marriages a lie; his religious beliefs a lie; his moral fabric a lie...need i continue?

Now for the rest of the story: He's really forking good at it...maybe the best ever.

But the really, really big question has to be...where is he going to put all those homeless folks as he tosses them out of DC. I've got an idea...trump tower and mar a lago...proving to all of us we were wrong about him...he truly does care about all his little people.

I'll patiently be waiting...for the next series of lies.

Now back to my self-imposed retirement from The Racket News.

The best question: what is the emergency in DC that requires this?

All the pedos and their enablers running around like they own the place?

I just read the local police have been coerced into falsifying DC crime stats for years, and that the police officers themselves are happy about getting this assistance. This article needs to be updated. "False pretenses" do not exist.

True, and most prosecutors in large cities look the other way. A crime is committed but not prosecuted and not counted.

SGman's avatar

Crime statistics do not require a prosecution.

Stephen McNeany's avatar

Not the point.....we're talking about statistics and if it's counted.

Linda wallack's avatar

well, I sure hope the reason isn't to start counting it for seats in Congress.

Another complaint about Trump that will eventually be resolved by the courts. Only a minority of the population will care.

Stephen McNeany's avatar

And you absolutely know he's lying.....sure you do.

The statistics don’t back up his claims.

You believe your desired narrative. Almost everyone does. There is plenty of reporting of alteration of crime statistics in large metro areas, including this about DC.

Stephen McNeany's avatar

What is the source of the statistics? Do statistics covering Chicago. Seattle, San Francisco...show the same trend for the same period?

SGman's avatar

Yes. There's been around 70% drop in both violent and property crimes since 1993.

Cameron Sprow's avatar

But the crimes that are committed these days are more heinous than ever. So, potato, potahto?

SGman's avatar

Are they? More heinous than Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Gary Ridgeway, etc...?

How much of this is colored by the change from a local focus on news to a national one?

Cameron Sprow's avatar

All I can say is that now on an almost daily basis you read and hear about atrocities committed by mothers and fathers on their children, or sons and daughters on their parents. It just seems like these heinous crimes are much more personal, and closer to home than the occasional stranger raping and murdering, like the ones you mentioned.

SGman's avatar

As I said.

Consider that when the news was local you didn't really hear about random crime all across the nation. Only the worst or most high profile cases would become national news.

24 hour news makes for every story to be aired/published. This skews perception of reality.

And are they ALL happening in DC?
