We have bigger problems
Democrats are jumping from a sinking ship instead of trying to rescue themselves.
Democrats are scrambling to motivate their voters, and the voters are getting less motivated every day. If you’ve seen the Democrat-run ads peppering social media and streaming sites, you’d think abortion and guns were the top issues. But when you see the Republican ads those are the issues voters care about. Economic pain is real, and regardless of how it’s defined, we’re in a real recession.
Democrats are doing their darnedest to misdirect to every other issue, and yes, it’s important to expose the heinous acts and plans of Donald Trump in the waning, desperate days of his presidency. It’s important to ensure he doesn’t get to execute those plans. But the answer to that isn’t more prosecutions. The window for legal action isn’t closed, but it’s not the best time unless there’s a real smoking gun, and so far, after 18 months, there’s a lot of smoke. Trump, meanwhile, is doing his best imitation of Napoleon returning from Elba, no, Santa Anna returning as dictator of Mexico, no, Palpatine on Exegol—that’s it. (“I am all the MAGA!”)
Trump went back to Washington, D.C., with no fear of being incarcerated, to give an updated version of his inaugural address” “streets filled with needles and soaked with the blood of innocent victims.” As much as actual conservatives would like to see a moving away from Trump, or a “beginning of the end” as Jonah Goldberg put it, most of what we see in scattered “go away” editorials is prudent distancing from the cold hand of history, and among politicians, the subpoena powers of grand juries and Congress.
I do think the GOP will someday rid itself of Trump, but it may not rid itself of MAGA for decades.
But Democrats have bigger problems, because their solution to all the problems is to elect more Democrats, and they’ve gone back to the same well that got them in trouble six years ago. They are actively promoting and campaigning for the most extreme Republicans in close races. They continue this out of the same impulse that causes a drowning person to stand on the head of their rescuer, pushing them under to drown together. They’ve been warned but do not listen, because winning is more important to individual candidates than having a healthy political party.
And of course, what happens when the extreme Republican candidates win?
The Democrats’ strategy, no, panic, no, campaign actions are making Palpatine’s return, or whatever “unnatural” clone of him, more likely, and this time, it’s less likely reasonable people in the government can stop him. Look up “Schedule F,” which Trump signed as an executive order just before the 2020 election, and President Biden rescinded. It would allow the replacement of thousands of policy-level civil servants, to actually “drain the swamp” of competent career bureaucrats. They would be replaced with MAGAbots who are loyal to a person, forget the legalities.
The more extreme Republicans that get into office, the more likely this undesirable scenario becomes. Blaming the voters won’t stop it. Democrats can’t pretend the big issues of the economy don’t exist. They can’t pretend monkeypox is the bigger issue than the price of chicken. If they do, at the same time they advocate aggressive prosecution of Trump, and promotion of Trump-centric candidates, they are going to find themselves trounced and the very people they don’t want in office ruling.
This is a recipe for actual violence and civil war.
Democrats are jumping from a sinking ship instead of trying to rescue themselves. They are pushing down the rescue swimmers under the water to drown alongside them. It’s a very dangerous and short-sighted way to run things, and it will not produce the desired outcome.

We have too many politicians who believe that they are more clever than they really are.
I am certain this Democratic Party strategy is what put Trump in the WH. The Democratic Party is off their rocker if they think the Republican extremists they are backing in primary elections will lose to their Democratic nominees in the general. They don't seem to understand the degree of fear and loathing that has been instilled in most Republican voters. They will vote R every time even if Jesus himself were running as a Democrat.
