My thought is that Russia always tries to meddle in our election politics and sow discord. The discord is more successful than their election interference. I'm convinced both sides are engaged in parallel arguments and mostly missing the point. You can believe what you want about who is the victim and who is the villain. There is ample commentary to support almost any nuance you choose.
There are a lot of Republicans who agreed that Russia meddled in the election and were very concerned about it. I think the scale runs from very concerned on the intelligence committee end of the spectrum to Pooh-poohing and minimizing on the MAGA end. I think most who dismiss it do so because they like the result and/or don’t want to offend Trump or undermine what credibility he has.
Prime example of what I said. Minimizing the importance of Russian meddling was not the objective of releasing the documents. Obama's interference in the process and influencing the media reporting by leaking skewed and false information is the story at the moment. And there is no way to punish Obama for his role. And the Trump haters will continue to hate.
