I drove from Atlanta to El Paso in March of 1965 about the same time as the incident in Selma. I did not hear much about that story until much later.
It is definitely a long drive across Texas. After leaving Atlanta, we were only halfway to El Paso when we got to Dallas.
Yes, it is. I remember that the distance across Texas on I10 is about 880 miles, which is farther than from Atlanta to Houston.
We were in Abilene last week. El Paso would have been another 3-4 hours west.
