Odds of 25th Amendment are worse than Impeachment.

As we saw yesterday over the War Powers limitations, #MAGA still packs enough punch to bring folks like Josh Hawley to heel. (No one ever made any money betting Josh would do the courageous thing.) And J.D. Vance doesn't have the charisma or presence to keep the band together.

Looking at polling, odds are increasing so that we repeat 2018, where new Democratic legislative majorities were large enough to impeach Trump, but not convict him.

The wild card in all of this are the States. With Trump's recent threats to stop funding Democratic states on Feb. 1st., it'll be interesting to see how that plays out if he doesn't TACO. Widespread tax revolts might be the first shots fired, and who knows where it goes from there?

So very sorry again for Ginger.

As for the rest, I quote a great line by the late Fred Thompson: "This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it."

“I am sick of stupid.” Amen Thom Tillis, amen.

I wake every day awaiting the latest trump atrocity and assault on our norms. Chaos reigns supreme while followers applaud the antics of the clowns filling his cabinet. From Nazi embraced and resurrected slogans to the DOJ's inability to release the Epstein files as required by statute, the brazen disregard for the law is remarkable.

How do normal people square with the craziness? This is no longer about right versus left; it's all boiled down to right versus wrong. Fascinating the check we all live with is trump's version of morality. No wonder life as we know it is forked.

Enough about the man who would be king. My sorrow for your loss David, it's an emotion i still believe matters. Dogs/pets are all too often our salvation, our source for sanity and a belief that good still exists. RIP Ginger, the Thornton family was blessed to have you.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your dog. It obviously left you more bitter and angrier toward the 80 million USA voters who disagree with your politics and simply picked the candidate they deemed a better choice than what the democrats had to offer. It concerns me greatly that a commercial pilot can harbor such anger. You might should take a break.

Meanwhile, ~160mil didn't vote for Trump - good to remember that.

But of course it's a lot easier to just dismiss everything as TDS rather than actually engage with the argument.

Curtis Stinespring's avatar

Actually, I have thought along those lines. About 100 million registered voters did not vote for Trump. The remainder of the population is unregistered, uncaring, too young, incompetent or illegal.

SGman's avatar

Great, so more people didn't vote for him than did.

And still, those eligible voters count (and good try with the attempt to claim an illegal immigrant is an eligible voter). They should get off their duffs and make their minds known.

Seems like you woke up on the trolling side of the bed. Don’t believe David’s politics have anything to do with Ginger’s passing. So it did not leave him angry about politics. Midterms are coming, so we will be able to scorecard the popularity of Trump. Like Bernie Sanders, Trump has the knack of identifying key issues and then devising solutions that pour gasoline on them and light the match.

Curtis Stinespring's avatar

No trolling intended. Just a sincere concern.

I have advocated against Trump since he came down the golden escalator in 2015. I’ve been accused of being all kinds of hateful things. As a true Evangelical I am, and always have been concerned that so many can support a clearly immoral man. He is consistently underwater in the polls for the issues that matter most to the majority. The midterms put him that much closer to an end of trumpism and with Mitch McConnell leaving I think the senate has a better shot at conviction and removing Trump. Every time someone writes they are concerned if we are going to have free fair elections in 2026 I say a silent prayer. No one can actually know, and I want to believe that people will not be frightened into staying away from the polls and will do their civic duty. Enough is enough. Yesterday was ratification day and it’s time for us to reassert our independence from a monarchy, or in this case an authoritarian dictator.

I’m very sorry for your loss David. Losing a pet especially a long time family member is very hard. I hope you have peace.

Can’t remember if you advocated taking out Joe Biden, a questioniionaly elected president, with A25; but now you want to remove a clearly and honestly majority elected president because his actions are a little spicy for your tastes using the same Amendment? Have I got that right? I have never personally liked Donald Trump. He is buffoon in many circumstances. But I voted for him three times for the simple reason that he is the only candidate since I first voted for Ricard Nixon in 1960 that I belied clearly saw most of the issues that were ripping this once great nation apart and and had the courage to bring them to the attention of his fellow citizens. While I don’t support all his suggested solutions I do believe that he has succeeded and will be recorded in history as the president who set the ship on a far better course than continue heading to the shoals it was almost upon.

"clearly saw most of the issues that were ripping this once great nation apart"

What issue is invading Greenland and destroying NATO solving that's ripping this once great nation apart?

Ditto for kidnapping the Venezuelan head of state?

How does murdering a lesbian mother in Minneapolis fix America?

How will spending time and resources on a ballroom that no one asked for bring America back together?

SGman's avatar

Nothing says "bring the nation together" like resentment politics and wanting to cancel elections, eh?

Chris J. Karr's avatar

I guess it depends on the line you draw around people that encloses "the nation" and everyone else.

Cameron Sprow's avatar

Who murdered a lesbian mother in Minnesota?

Chris J. Karr's avatar

Jonathan Ross killed Renee Good in Minnesota under the ICE surge there.

In a just world, he would stand trial for the killing, where a court would adjudicate whether the killing was justified (acquittal), negligent (manslaughter), or intentional (murder). What was caught on camera looked and sounded a lot like murder.

However, this administration won't let that happen. The "most transparent administration in history" just can't stop the cover-ups, be it this case or the Epstein Files.

Cameron Sprow's avatar

Actually, what i saw on camera looked and sounded alot like self defense.

Curtis Stinespring's avatar

I'm sure some politician will attempt to charge Ross with murder. I'm equally sure they will fail to make it stick.

I agree on any attempt to take over Greenland other than by peaceful means. The other issues are obviously not settled.

Chris J. Karr's avatar

What's unsettled about the ballroom?

Curtis Stinespring's avatar

Whether it's a positive or a negative.

Chris J. Karr's avatar

Was America hurting for a ballroom to host big events?

The best I can tell is that Trump has a fear that he'll be as memorable as William Henry Harrison and is doing everything he can to try and forge a reputation as a Great Man, when he is anything but.

I guess one good thing about a big room like a ballroom is that it's easier to demolish than any other kind of structure that Trump would try to erect in his own honor.
