"Besides Jones, running on the Republican ballot, there’s Chris Carr, the currently serving state Attorney General. He’s a solid candidate, who has raised nearly $5 million in his bid to be the nominee. But for all that cash, none of the polls has Carr breaking 10 percent, and he is consistently polling in last place behind the other candidates."

For obvious reasons, this guy pings my radar more often than a state's attorney general should (though for weird reasons, this office intersects with my life more than merited*), and every time I've read anything about this fellow, he comes off as another Try Hard Tool angling for higher office - not unlike one Josh Hawley (the first state AG to cross my path).

Good for you for taking time to vote in the primary in the first place, and a second thanks for casting a vote for someone principled. Raffs may not win the race, but if enough of you come out and make your votes heard, that may serve as notice that Georgia has a not-insignificant Principled Caucus.

* Colorado's current state AG Phil Weiser is running for governor there and was an important instructor in information economics and law for me in college a quarter century ago, back when he was just kicking off his academic career.

I’ve met Chris Carr and he seems competent and committed as the state’s senior prosecutor. His office is well run and he has no scandals. He does engage in a lot of political grandstanding, joining cases against Democrats while they are in power. But that’s baked in to our political climate in my opinion. Perhaps Carr is just too boring to make headway in this race.

Glad to hear that Carr is running his office well and I'm just catching all the grandstanding.

I tend to agree. I’d support anyone over Jones for the reasons you stated. My conundrum is whether to vote Raffensperger in the Republican primary or Geoff Duncan in the Democratic primary.

We get Jackson mail everyday and he’s all over tv, but when I drove across the state over the weekend, I only recall seeing one Jackson sign as opposed to many for Jones.

I would not vote for Duncan. I’d pick Michael Thurmond over him in the D primary.

I'd say vote for Raffensperger to send a message (whatever that's worth to the GA GOP) that he's the most acceptable GOP option for a non-insignificant portion of the electorate.

I really don't want to vote Republican in the primary. The party has failed the country and nearly cemented a path to authoritarianism. However, I will be voting Republican because there are crucial local elections for which there are no Independent or Democratic candidates. I will be voti g for Raffensberger. After researching all candidates on the ballot for national and state offices, I have decided to vote in the governor's race, the state school superintendent, and a few judicial races. The list of contenders for the US Senate is repulsive and the candidates for Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General are no better. Unopposed incumbents will default. I'll not give them a vote.
