Trump is absolutely right to despise Mitch McConnell, but it’s McConnell who will still be standing in the Senate while Trump is sitting in the defendant’s dock.
Mitch plays the moderation-at-any-cost game. I disagree when he tries to handpick Republican candidates, such as Murkowski who has little in common with most Republicans. He has also abandoned a few conservative candidates who might have won and who would not embarrass the party if elected. All in the interest of protecting incumbents who would continue to vote for him as leader. He knows the game and he's good at it, but he is not that interested in pushing a conservative small government agenda. I am often disappointed, but I do not despise him. He's done some good things. We could do worse. We could also do better, but it would make a difference only if Republicans could gain a majority in the Senate.
