It blows my mind how many folks OUTSIDE of NYC are getting their knickers all twisted up over Zohran Mamdani. I don't know if it's the slow season for pundits or whether they believe that he will have some large impact outside the borders of the five boroughs, or what. I do know that I hear more about him from non-New Yorkers than city residents themselves.

Speaking of socialist mayors, we've been experiencing a historic drop in violent crime here in Chicago[1], which is putting a Brandon Johnson foes like me into a tight spot, as I'm having to reassess whether I should keep calling him a "clown" or not.

I identified this trend back in the Summer of 2018. I called it "Conservative Socialism." https://www.stridentconservative.com/forget-democratic-socialism-and-make-way-for-conservative-socialism/

all you have to do is look at what God told real Israel that a king would get, when they sniveled and begged for a king. Other things where every single person could benefit exactly equally from "govt funds" such as fire, military, parks, are better when funds are pooled to benefit rare needs. funding someone elses choice for an abortion, never is equal, for example. Socialism/communism reduces humanity to it's lowest common denominator...its just that evil

The law says illegals "shall" be detained while they await an immigration status determination. It has nothing to do with criminal activity.

A lot of people being detained are not illegals.

It’s also not true that illegals must be detained while awaiting their hearing. Trump has made it policy not to allow release on bond.

Other applicable laws include asylum law and laws that govern the conditions for detention centers.

From your link: "Laura Barron-Lopez:

Rubio is revoking these visas under an obscure immigration provision that says that if he decides that a person is having an adverse foreign policy effect, that he can take away their visa or green card holder.

Now, we should say that Khalil and Ozturk have not been charged with any crime."

The revocation of probationary admittance is a judgment call by the agencies charged with enforcing immigration laws.

From: https://sgp.fas.org/crs/homesec/R45915.pdf

"1. INA Section 236(a) generally authorizes the detention of aliens pending removal proceedings and permits

aliens who are not subject to mandatory detention to be released on bond or on their own recognizance;

2. INA Section 236(c) generally requires the detention of aliens who are removable because of specified

criminal activity or terrorist-related grounds after release from criminal incarceration;

3. INA Section 235(b) generally requires the detention of applicants for admission, such as aliens arriving at

a designated port of entry as well as certain other aliens who have not been admitted or paroled into the

United States, who appear subject to removal; and

4. INA Section 241(a) generally requires the detention of aliens during a 90-day period after the completion

of removal proceedings and permits (but does not require) the detention of certain aliens after that period."

In 3., above, detention is generally required unless waived by the agencies that enforce immigrations laws. The current Attorney General and Secretaries of State and Homeland security have not waived that requirement.
