About 25 years ago, when $100,000 a year was a really good salary, I saw young people give up jobs after testing positive for drugs or alcohol rather than go through rehab and increased testing frequency to keep six-figure salaries. At least three of them had incomes over $150,000. There were more than you would imagine who were fired from good-paying jobs after a second positive test. The recidivism rate was high. I assume you are subject to random testing as I was when I did useful work.

Some jobs do not mix with frequent drug use or showing up for work while intoxicated. Marijuana and alcohol are the easiest to detect but I've seen a case where an employee had to give up his poppy seed muffins.
