Pro vax. Anti federal mandate. Pro state and local and employer mandate.
We gave been stuck on stupid since this virus showed up. It was instantly politized. It was just the flu. It would be gone next week sometime. You don't have to wear masks because it's unmanly or something. The WH became a super spreader. Exit MAGA. Then we get the second clown act. Jeez
We have the worst political class in my lifetime who were all poorly equipped to govern in a time of pandemic. Remember when we had no masks? Remember when we had no tests? We still don't.
Just when i thought i had escaped my weekly mail box rationing of The Racket News, i suddenly get back on the accepted list. The family squabble must have been resolved of being worthy or not. Actually i am grateful for no other reason than the joy of reading the exceptional piece the other day by Berman the lessor (no offense intended Jay). The story on John Madden was wonderful.
I've really come full circle on the covid19 hysteria by pundits. Honestly, i just don't care any more. Don't want the vaccine, don't get it. Think it's a hoax, knock your self out. Love the goofs touting the insanity, all good by me. It isn't worth my time or energy to waste on people who are that ignorant. No offense to that small portion who are unable to get the shot, but that is minuscule in the grand scheme of those refusing.
I will mention this for those who have elected not to be vaccinated: I wouldn't want to be in your shoes when you finally go off to meet your maker and the guy with the check list at the pearly gates looks at you a bit askew. Then that question pops out of his mouth; remember back in 2021 you could have got the shot but didn't. Instead you went off to the family gathering feeling a little off and you ended up killing Uncle Fred and Aunt Bertha?
Sorry, no, not really. No more so than feeling bad for the drunk that gets behind the wheel and kills a family of 6. Poor choices are simply that; poor choices. Not my job to judge, but i would rather error on the side of being a decent human being. Just saying eh.
Finally, its not been talked about much but for those pushing the idea of monoclonal antibodies, or better yet, the treatments trump got; how about the question of relative costs. I suspect there are hugely, bigly differences in a vernacular trump folks can understand. Wonder how big?
Are you aware that even the vaccinated does kill people? Are you aware that the vaccinated does spread the virus, though to a lesser extent than the unvaccinated? So theoretically, YOU are killing off people by spreading the virus. And more importantly, I wouldn't want to be in the vaccinated's shoes if they die without Christ, then they will spend eternity in Hell, whereas for some of the unvaccinated people, they may die prematurely but with Christ, then they will spend eternity with Christ,. Who is better off? The unvaccinated, of course.
I am fully vaccinated (that includes the booster), and I have Christ, I know He is my personal Savior. Do you know Christ as your personal Savior? I sure hope so! I do encourage people to get vaccinated, as I happen to think vaccine is safe and effective against most of the covid-19 variants. It's not the magical bullet everyone thinks, but it's better than nothing. Even so, I am not a huge fan of vaccine mandates, I believe all vaccines of different kinds should be a personal choice, and we must learn how to live with some people who don't want to be vaccinated for any reason.
The vaccinated people often chide or scold the unvaccinated for not caring enough about their neighbors. However, it cuts both ways, the vaccinated needs to learn to love their unvaccinated neighbors, and must acknowledge that they cannot be forced into accepting something they don't want at all. It's just like with preaching the Gospel, we as born-again Christians are told to preach the Gospel to every creature, because if we don't, then these unsaved souls will one day die without Christ, and they will go to a place of eternal torment. But we are never told to forcibly convert these unsaved souls even if it's in their best interest, there comes a time when we have to accept some unsaved souls just aren't interested in becoming followers of Jesus Christ. God instructs all born-again Christians to learn how to live with the unsaved people, and to love them as their neighbors, even if they persecute born-again Christians.
I am aware of the massive differences between those vaccinated and those not. I am aware it is not a perfect science but an ongoing body of work where they are trying to deal with a nightmare of epic proportions. I am also aware those who tout nonsense are killing their neighbors and friends, and that Dan is wholly illogical to me.
I also don't argue or debate religion. Whatever or whomever you worship is a personal decision and you have the right to make it. I respect that right, i simply don't need it stuck in my face. I believe all religious belief starts with a morality steeped in treating people well. But, that's just my basis for believing, yours is whatever you want it to be.
BTW, tongue in cheek is still a writing technique that has it's place. I have no empirical proof there is a winged saint admitting anyone to the pearly gates. I do however have a belief we have an obligation as to whether we infect countless others because we have listened to brain dead people who have no clue what they are talking about (see some of the names listed above in David's exceptional column).
Best regards, you sound like someone who knows who they are and what they want and believe in: that's a good thing IMHO.

It's like they don't believe anything their bible says. I'm pretty sure a drunk driver who kills someone won't be let off the hook because someone else happens to die in a traffic accident. But its all okay hell murder billions just make sure you pray that little prayer to make it all go away.
I recall reading that monoclonal antibodies are good for early treatment of COVID, while a steroid (dexamethasone, I think) is good for treatment later in the infection.

Very well written article. I'll pray for your friend and his family as well.

Bill, I think that there was some sort of glitch with the emails. Hopefully, that is resolved.
