Arizona Democrats voted to censure Sinema because she refused to overthrow the filibuster. In Georgia, David Shafer signed a fake elector certificate, a criminal act; he's still Chairman of the GAGOP.
We might disagree on a few details, but you certainly have the basics down pat. Politicians dishonestly take advantage of voters' worst instincts and fears. They say what their audience wants to hear but do not follow through with actions. Unfortunately, the democrats probably come closer to acting as expected (not to my liking) than Republicans. This really leaves conservatives in a hard position, but I will continue to vote for the candidates who are closer to my position.
The most likely solution is term limits and even then, it will take a while to cull career politicians.
You notice that for all the caterwauling about "free speech" that it's "conservatives" enacting anti-free speech legislation regarding books and the like?
Not sure if I said anything to prompt this. I do not favor restricting any speech, within the bounds of decency, for adults on public platforms or reading books. I read and enjoy many authors you probably would not expect. Check out Joe R. Landsdale. I would not make his writings or anything close to them available to anyone under 16 years old and, in some cases, older. Some common sense is required. Of course we might disagree on what is common and what is sensical.
So, democrats acting more like their voters expect is vaguer than ""conservatives" enacting anti-free speech legislation regarding books and the like". Are you talking about Mark Twain's classics, "Gone With the Wind", "To Kill a Mockingbird" or Dr. Seuss books?
It's extremely vague and non-specific, as most of your statements against Democrats happen to be.
Dr. Seuss's family did it's own thing with its own property, and complaints about "cancel culture" are aimed at people speaking out not against laws. Show me a law Democrats are proposing to remove these works from public schools or universities: or private universities even.
That's the thing: the GOP is actively trying to enact cancel culture laws re: books and curriculums (seriously, proposing a law that forbids "anti-American" rhetoric without any example of it), but somehow Democrats are worse, because mumble mumble mumble....
It took me all of 0.2 seconds to peruse your specific examples of Republicans passing laws to censor undefined rhetoric. I would not be surprised to learn that some Republicans had proposed such laws. There is a lot of posturing in legislative bodies.
Meanwhile, democrat run governments and education institutions pay bureaucrats to remove unapproved literature from school and public libraries. Evidently their laws allow such actions.
There is at least one example of a Biden advisor proposing laws to restrict free speech.

The trigger being your hazy non-specific statement regarding democrats. Figured I'd point out some BS the GOP is doing.
