Besides tuition inflation, another undesirable side effect is grade inflation in order to keep students above the B average required for programs such as HOPE scholarships. We should also pay attention to the proliferation of half-ass courses of study such as History of Engineering designed to attract and retain lackadaisical students.

That's certainly a factor but the ones I'm concerned about are those whose tuition is paid with taxpayer dollars. Football and men's basketball are becoming a disgrace and are losing fans.
One additional thing to note: the PPP loan forgiveness doesn't appear to have ruffled as many feathers as college debt forgiveness appears to be doing.
Is this because the college debt issue is considered more partisan for some reason, or something else?
I'd assume that's because the PPP loans were used to keep more people employed, so it wasn't the business owner that was the sole beneficiary of those funds. Furthermore, there seemed to be wider support for providing the PPP loans across party lines, where it's only been a subset of Democrats who have been agitating for this.
The right doesn't think business owners should have to shoulder any risk or adverse conditions. This has always been true. They will always bail out the rich, not to mention low taxes at the expense of American debt. So because COVID was governmentally mandated they don't see it as a good comparison to college debt relief. Because its a choice to take college debt but its a right for them to own businesses or something.
This right winger thinks businesses should be allowed to fail if they can't manage their affairs. GM and Chrysler should have gone the way of Westinghouse. Smaller businesses should not have been bailed out by the same governments that shut them down.
Not enough hearts to give this one.
We really, really need Congress to do their jobs...

I'd assume it's because a significant number of grifters found a way to defraud the taxpayers of $76 billion.
