If you’re a “reporter” who embeds oneself in a Hamas sniper den, you are:

1). Endowed with balls the size of a load of bricks

2) endowed with the intelligence of said load.

3) a Hamas participant

I don't get the digs the right gives to TK about Taylor being more successful than him. Why are so many men threatened by successful women?

I miss Steak & Shake. But like most other affordable food joints, when service workers decided they were too good to do service work and could live ok by pooling their food stamps and other government benefits, profits became as scarce as the restaurants. There is one Steak & Shake nearby but it's within a quarter mile of the Mall of Georgia where I refuse to go unless desperate for something besides burgers.

If India did not have such a huge population, there would not be many workers left there. They have migrated to every free country on earth. There are about 5 million in the USA and the number of citizens of Indian descent is growing rapidly. They are generally well educated and apply themselves to whatever profession they choose. If Trump wanted to really punish India, he could apply a flat $5.00 tariff on every service desk call not handled in the USA.

From the pages of The Bulwark this morning with a nod to Ben Hodges for his commentary on yesterday's debacle (being really kind here): "In the Army, we called this butt snorkeling."

How freaking appropriate. Imagery is everything in life eh?

Prediction: those that were angry at the Cracker Barrel logo change will still be miserable and filled with anger and angst about their lives, and will move on to the next distraction that the anger mongers provide.

If, as I read this morning, CB intends to continue turning their dining rooms into IKEA showrooms, this is far from over.

As for India and tariffs someone said this morning we should look for home sources. Can you point me to a vanilla bean farm here in the US?

Was this for me or Steve?

From my perspective: bland corporatism will continue.

I don't know why vanilla was the example used, but the major growers are Madagascar, Indonesia and Mexico (the original source of the vanilla orchid). We do grow some vanilla in Hawaii, but ~80% of the supply is from Madagascar.

Then again, artificial vanilla (vanillin) is used far more widely for vanilla flavor than natural vanilla.

You and Steve. I guess I remember when there was some kind of shortage from vanilla in India and it got very expensive here. But anyways, those other countries have tariffs as well. As for Hawaii, it is part of the US, but still expensive to import to the continental states.

Most often when we go to Cracker Barrel, it’s with our grandchildren and we love the decor and the discussions we have around it. I hate to see it turn into IKEA.

I've never been to a Cracker Barrel: there's all of three in California, and I'm not going out of my way for it. And still: things change, and bland corporatism will continue to make itself felt.

Perhaps you're misremembering re a vanilla shortage and which country was involved, but regardless I do agree on the issue of tariffs and how they're being placed. That said: if we're going to place tariffs or sanctions on countries for dealing with Russia, then we should actually do that across the board.
