I wish the focus of the impeachment was on his dereliction of duty once the riots started. The fact that Trump didn't call in the National Guard and it took Pence to do it, is incontrovertible proof that he violated his oath to the Constitution. It's also much easier to prove, rather than the more nebulous incitement, which is a bit of an eye of the beholder.

Thank you David and as i have said all along conviction in a court of law is far more desirable than an impeachment vote will ever be. Sadly he will most likely skate out of harms way on both.

That said, we have all come to understand, words matter. Well, not quite all us, trump is still befuddled by the fact what he says or tweets impacts millions of people. His game has always been the con and when he was just scamming suckers out of tuition money or donations to his phony charity, it didn't matter all that much.

Then he became president and the position power of the office was intoxicating to him. Being drunk on power doesn't give one skills he never possessed...in spite of telling us he only knew the best ones. Clearly he didn't; his one trick pony of hyperbole and lies were all he knew, what he understood and the rubes ate it up, loved him for his crassness. Hell, he was one of them (said with a smirk).

For anyone who has ever laid pen to paper, we've come to understand how powerful words can be. How they can draw you in, push you away or turn a crowd into a frenzied mob. The old adage "a pen is mightier than a sword" is questionable, but after watching the events of January 6, when using one to spur on the other, they can be devastating.

Think not? Check with the families of those left dead on the Capital grounds and see how they feel. Death is real and permanent. Those who helped facilitate it should/must be held accountable. Up and down the line all of the fools who fueled the "stop the steal" mantra, you all helped put those people in the ground. You can pretend you did it for all the righteous reasons, but in the end it was a lie and it led to their deaths.

We come from different places on our religious beliefs David but i do believe there is a God who will in fact judge all of us and our actions. This one word will figure heavily on how they are judged, powerful and compelling in my mind: "COMPLICIT." Were they complicit in driving the actions of January 6 and ending the lives of several people?

Standing up against an unlawful election process is not 'incitement' to commit crimes. Democrats have been rioting since 2016, but that's 'OK'. This is horrible spin. What the this article is saying; and dnc want, is us cowed into silence, so that, if we raise an issue, we're called for violent intent. The 'author' wants to shut us up in the same manner. Sorry, not sorry. It's not going to happen.
