Having lived in Arizona for 40+ years before moving back to the east coast, I do not like daylight savings time. Sunrise is best in the early morning hours and not during the rush hour, In northeast Florida the sun comes up too late as it is and pushing sunrise an hour later in the winter is a depressing thought.

Perhaps states should be able to opt in/out basically changing their time zone. Western Florida and Georgia are really good candidates to be in the Central Time Zone (part of western panhandle actually is).

If changing the clock twice a year is unhealthy then don’t change it. The Earth is divided into 24 time zones. If people really want to be within a natural cycle then stay within the natural cycle and not try to manipulate nature to satisfy a whim. If tweaks need to be made after abandoning daylight savings time they can be made on a case by case basis and avoid a hodgepodge of changes that makes no sense .

Permanent DST was attempted in the 79s, and reversed after a few months.

I'm for abolishing DST and just using Standard time. If someone wants to be on a different schedule, let 'em do so on their own: they can talk to their employer about their work hours to align with their preferred schedule.

Heck, maybe their employer will even have their own desire for "Summer hours".
