DeSantis certainly should have had a better answer. It would have necessarily been many more words and might have included more nits to pick, misquote or misrepresent. Not sure he would come out ahead, but he could have done better.

Other race hustlers have pointed out that the curriculum requires discussion of people who worked to end slavery but not those who worked to keep slavery. I actually thought the people who advocated for slavery were being erased from history by renaming Army bases, schools and other symbols.
