Praise the Lord and pass the peanut butter; just three hours ago on your Facebook page i encouraged Kevin to grow a set and work with the dems and do the right thing. Acting like a true statesman must have been liberating for him rather than playing hide the weenie with Matt and Marj. Damn David, who knew your social media page had that much influence across this country?
I'm glad we got another few weeks (maybe) to straighten out this mess. I'll believe there's such a thing as bipartisanship in Congress when McCarthy gets the dozen or so democrat votes he might need to maintain his leadership post. Might happen, but I doubt it.
As usual, democrats will win because they do not compromise on spending to buy votes. Most Republicans support aid to Ukraine so that is not really a problem. Border security is a real problem so we may get a tiny amount of that in exchange for more democrat vote buying.
I think there’s room for both border security and Ukraine aid. I think both were included, but Republicans have a long history of killing border security because they don’t like the compromises attached.
I think the link below shows there is such a huge gap between prevailing democrat opinion and the Republican stance on border security that the democrat compromises will be viewed as total surrender. I certainly view it that way. No barriers. Chain migration allowing dozens of indigent relatives. No deportations for reliance on welfare programs. Asylum for almost any unhappiness with native country government. Lax criminality standards.
There are dozens of articles disagreeing with the Republican immigration proposals. All are based on the premise that the Republican bills are flawed because they are too focused on enforcement, ignore root causes and are not humane enough. If VP Kamala Harris cannot make progress on root causes, who can? If the USA cannot first provide programs that meet the needs of its citizens, how can we provide for the other five billion people on the planet, Earth. The governors of Texas and Florida have done a great service by demonstrating to the hypocritical blue state governors and blue city mayors the fallacy of their sanctuary virtue signaling.

I don’t like to claim credit but I won’t argue with it either. 😀
